1964 Galaxie emergency brake adjustments?

    Im wanting to know what I need to do for emergency brake adjustments on my 64..

    right now I press down the ebrake and of course car can move easily...when i release the brake the pedal only comes up halfway...and I have to pull it up the est of way..clicking...where do I go from here?





    ps...if you know about carbs please look at my other post on autolite 2100

    Either the return spring in the ratchet asm is weak/missing and/or you may have frozen/stretched brake cable(s).

    Climb under car, there is a long threaded rod, it has a "bar" / bracket or something like that on it, pull the bracket toward the front of the car and tighten the nut, or just tighten the nut , this will put tension on the cables, dont do it too tight, do a little then check the pedal.

    This may work. It could be the cable from the frame to the drum that is the issue also

    trying to get the car able to p*** a safety inspection so that can get it ***led in texas...and get it road worthy
