I did search, but got nothing, and googl got all kind of odd confilting info.
There must be a way to just hold 1st longer then 4ft or so. I know its a very lite rod just like most lakesters ect. at less then 2000lbs. has TH350 [1981?] sbc 350 with AFB 4bbl,HEI, mild cam ,vac mod is hooked up and kickdown is hooked up,has right ATF and full, rear 2.86.
What seems to be happening is this makes a small delay/stumble in acelraetor that is not there if I manul hold 1st,is if auto dr.
Would be very nice if it just auto held 1st up to something like 2000 or so RPM in stead of shifting to 2nd at about 900 or so RPM.

Is the TV cable adjusted correctly?

Try adjusting the vacuum modulator (provided it is adjustable). You might have to limit the vacuum to the modulator a little (some sort of inline tube with reduced I.D.). Maybe a shift kit would help too.

No TV cable, this uses vacuum modulator for TV control. You are thinking of the kickdown cable, which is used only for forced downshifts.

    Some TH350s have a T/V cable.

  7. A shift kit, adjustable modulator and or heavier governor springs will help.
If you don't have an adjustable modulator I have used a br*** valve from
an aquarium pump to regulate the vacuum. Make sure your kick down cable is adjusted properly (there has to be free play).

  8. If I recall correctly, the vacuum mod might have an adjuster inside it. Remove the vacuum line, insert an allen key and turn to adjust.

My first thought was the kickdown cable but if that was too tight I think it would stay in gear, not change gears early.

You need to change springs in the governor, there is a kit for that ,or grind a bit at the time one or both of the weight so the shift point will go up.

    Thanks guys ,great input,
change springs in the governor seems to make the most scents so far?;)
I adjusted the kickdown or what ever called, manytimes but no good/yes it is hooked up inside trans to.
Have not tryed restriktor in vac mod hose yet,the vac mod is a stock one now ,I'll look in for adjustible allenkey if it has one.
Thing that happens is that ****** is trying to always be in 2nd starting off from stop sign or lite, that makes a bog spot,if it stayed in first a bit longer it would be have no bog at all.
Shifting it by hand into 1st every time dose stop all bog ,but it would be nice to have it hold 1st just a bit longer by it's self in auto Dr.
    Seem to look like this is the trick;

Has any one here tryed it?

Need adjustable modulator....I can turn mine in or out enough to make it shift or not shift....

  12. I was going to suggest that. The kit should come with several spring options, start with the stiff ones than move down until it shifts when you want it to.

Had the same problem with my 2200lb. coupe and the wife's truck.....
Adjustable modulator fixed it....Adjust it almost all the way in, drive it, adjust accordingly.....works every time..
