    Kinda late for a reply, but tried before and not being a member it didn't go through, I guess.

    The L.A. Roadster Club decided it would be good promotion to give a roadster away at the forthcoming Roadster Show. An arrangement was made with Bill to purchase the roadster from him at an agreed price and it would be raffled off at the roadster show. We printed up raffle tickets and proceeded to sell tickets for a $1.00 each. We promoted the roadster at shows and other hot rod acitivities but couldn't come up with enough money to buy the car. We therefore dropped the raffle and spent many nights writing $1.00 checks to return to all the purchasers.

    What happened to the car after that, I have no idea.

    **** - here's what Bill Neumann had to say when I asked him about this;
    "That’s my roadster, and I think I was a member for a year or two, I know I went to several of their shows. I can read “will be given away,” but can’t make out the first or other words at the end – but it wasn’t given away here or any other time. Maybe the original photo by GB would show more of what the sign says. And I don’t remember the person sitting on the stool.

    I sold the roadster in about 1966-67 intending to build a new one, but got sidetracked with my new business until about six years ago when I finally started on a new one and have been driving for about three years now. I also just finished building a ’32 five window coupe and hope to have it at its first show this summer.

    Thanks for sending the photo and thinking of me.
    Regards
    Bill Neumann"

    I will ask him if he remembers making that deal. I would have thought he would have mentioned that ....
