I have had my Model A done and on the road now for about three years. I love it and have learned a lot from the great guys that helped me build it. I know most of the problems with the car and am comfortable driving it for reasonable distances now, but this spring I bought a 1963 Buick Riviera, also and I find I drive it much more than the A it actually is at my house, where my A is in a garage a couple of miles from home. The Rivi also holds four people while the A only fits two plus the Rivi has heat, windows all around and just easier to drive on road trips. Don't get me wrong the A is much more fun to drive. I have compared them as a plow horse and a thoroughbred but I don't drive it as much as I really should and feel guilty about it ! Anybody else have multiple cars and not give one the attention it deserves ? How do you overcome this and find a balance ? Thoughts ideas ?

    Thanks

You're at the point now where you have to make the model A into a radical drag racing car. Pull it around with the Riv.:D

I think just about everyone with multiple cars has that issue at one time or another. One friend of mine who has several nice customs calls it "not overexposing" the car when it doesn't get taken out much. There is a well known cl***ic car collector in the PNW who also has some nice rods who has a personal policy that if one of his cars doesn't get driven in a certain amount of time it gets put up for sale. That is a bit extreme but when one leaves his collection another one equally interesting usually joins it.
I'd say pick special events and occasions for the Model A to go to and stick with it. The Riv can do the long trips and the events where it might not fit in quite so well.

My old truck feels even worse, I wrecked it over 5 years ago and it's not back on the road yet. But it is finally running again.

You could paint the A green....if it's not already....

Apples and Oranges......both cool but different.
Enjoy them both for what they are.....don't keep track on time in each..
You are fortunate to have both choices !!!
    Cheers...............

Why limit yourself to just 2 cars? I think you are short changing yourself. It's not like you are married to either of these cars or anything. Once you are in a committed relationship, then I could maybe see it. Until then, roll with it. There's a lot of different fine looking wheels out there.

The absolute best way to overcome your problem is to drive the A down here and I'll drive it for you. Hell I aint got any wheels right now I'm sure I can give it the attention it needs.:D

Your other option I guess is to let Will's son drive it for awhile. ;)

Yeah, but a 63 Riv? Come on, it can't hate on you for wanting to ride around in that. Who doesn't? It's like having multiple children, you love them all in their own ways.

That was my thinking, now we have four cars, all that I enjoy. The hard part is getting stuff started and done on all of them. That and deciding which to drive.

I understand what he is saying about the A, it is a blast to drive, but the two seater part is tough, seems someone is always left out. And my girl, who is great and the reason we have all cars, doesn't get to ride along with me in the A.

Well my ex would only let me have one at a time and resented the car and wanted nothing to do with it......

My fiance is a car girl and enjoys driving the cars as much as I which has been a great new experience. She has found parts and things for the cars for me without me asking, it is so cool.

I like the 'monster drag car A, pulled by the Riv tow car idea'.... we will need money, hammers and money, tools, parts, hammers... beer and money.

Used to have 6 cars when I was married... couldn't keep em all clean and full of gas... I'd clean one up... and it'd sit there...

Now I'm down to 3... and one still sits in a dark building about 95% of the time... One is my daily even though alot of people think it's all show... the other has room for 5 or 6 people ... so it's what I've been hauling my buddies to cruise-ins with.

But yea... seems like we pick a favorite and neglect the rest...

If the model A gets cranky and kicks the Riv outta the garage PM me!

I'm looking for a Riv currently, such a nice car.

have the same problem and i have not driven my car in years. it was parked in the back of the garage and it was always easier to take one of the ones in front of it. no excuse now though has it's own bay, but i need to go through it....maybe this will be the year.

Dude, two rockin machines. They have no personal feelings about when they are driven or not. It is an ideal program, you have a very cool comfy, cruzer and an *** kicken hot rod. Just do what ya feel and drive what fits at the time. I view the hot rod as a more personal driving experience, maybe take it out alone and just cruz a little, drive it a little naughty, and feel that hot rod rush. You know what I mean. The only problem I see here is one a lot of people would love to have. Great cars, have some fun. ~sololobo~
