Help! I need to get a 73 Cougar from Washington state to Iowa.I have tried all the guys on the HAMBodex and none of them are going to the pacific northwest. It's my sons first car and did not know it would be such a pain to get it shipped otherwise we might not have bought it.Any leads would be appreciated. Thanks Herb.

    Herb,
You might try the listings in Hemmings. Seems like there are several pages of car hauling services there. You did not mention the condition of the car. If it is a reliable runner it might make a great father son adventure. Fly out and drive it back.
    Best of luck,

    B

not sure sure if you've tried him yet, but I had good luck getting some trucks shipped from North Dakota to Alabama by going through the guy that runs the hotrodgarage.net site in minot, ND.
Last time I visited his shop, he was shipping a flathead to Poland, so I guess he's had some experience getting things moved around.
Worth a call, maybe he can help you out.

What town the car is in now might have a bearing on who you could get to ship it.
Just like Iowa, Washington is pretty spread out and if the car is in the Seattle are you would be looking at different haulers than if it were in the Spokane area, Yakima, Tri-Cities or Vancouver.
Also does it run and drive. That was an issue when I sold one car as we could have gotten it on a convoy truck if it ran and drove.

  7. Remember you get what you pay for with shippers, check out your company carefully before you commit. Is it drivable? It may be just as cheap to fly in and drive it back.

Hey Thanks for the input. The car does run and drive fine,it is in Moses Lake WA and I am in s.e. IOWA.Will defintly check into these suggestions.Would fly out and drive it home but the plane tickets are running around 500.00 apiece. This is why HAMB is so great! Thanks Herb.

  9. Well, Moses Lake is on I-90, so that helps some. No side trip to nowhere for the carrier.

Look into Dependable Auto Shippers (DAS) I used the back in January to ship a '72 IH Travelall from coast to coast, prices were the best around, they have an online tracking service so you know where your vehicle is, and they are fast.

I thought of flying out to WA and driving the truck home, but family life kept me from that. In the end it was a good thing I didnt, because the truck never would have made it out of the state let alone cross country. I don't know why people feel they have to be dishonest when selling cars.

I just checked their website http://www.dasautoshippers.com/ didn't try the phone number though. It looks like you can figure out the preliminaries online.

It looks like the seller would have to take the car to Kennewick, wa (84 miles) and you would probably have to pick it up in Davenport to use them though.

As Nomobux said Moses Lake is right On I 90 and and easy stop for haulers headed East out of Seattle. Timed right it would be a 30 minute or less stop and they are on the road again.
