does anyone have some pics of really cool 60s chopper tanks. i just got my frame back tonight from the painter, and i now need to come up with a cool color scheme for the tank. i want simple flames and a metal flake or pearl paint job. heres a pic of the tank with some quick ****py grease penciled flames on it. lol the tank has about 10 pounds of bondo on it to give it those swirls and stuff in it. any suggestions or pics? thanks guys -cal.
Most I had seen used fogged colors of flake, the fogging accentuating the shapes/build ups. Lots were single colors, the 3d shapes took the place of painted on flames. Your plan of having the flames match up with your sculptured shapes looks good. I say go with it. I have some 60's pics here: http://mikejang.com/oldies__choppers_page3.html
I'd love to paint that tank. It would be a lot of fun. Send it to me along with some dough. You wont be disappointed.
That Blue Max tank could be the coolest thing I have ever seen. . I would have left off the Nazi stuff though.
thanks guys! this helps me out alot. hopefully by the end of next week i can get the tank done. here some pics of what the tank is gonna be sittin on. these were taken just before the tear down. its a '79 650 yamaha, i hope to have it running and on the road before june. thanks again guys.
Here is some of my new wall art, I am going to start collecting these things. I have a matching rear fender for the sporty tank.
