Those are some great cars. Looks like the "angel hair" era was ramping up pretty strong. And who knew "cry-baby" dolls were old school?

I love seeing tri-five Chevys done up custom style. It's too rare, these days.

Thank you. I know several of those cars/owners. There were at least three magazine cars in those pictures.

    1st the sectioned Ford.

Check out this exhaust. Sorta an early bellflower design. This is one of the earliest uses of that type of exhaust I have come across.

It was new in '59. These were part of the lakes plug/lakes pipe fad that hit in '58. And THAT was an extension of the belly burners and stacks for the pick up trucks. Or maybe the belly burners were an extension of the lake pipes...it was all happening so fast it was hard to keep up.:D But it was WAYYY before "Bellflower" became a fad.

Ya, thanks Mutt! I figured they weren't called bellflowers, I just had no clue what to call them. They just reminded me of them. They likely inspired the bellflowers though, dontcha think?

Graverobber, sorry for the slight hijack,

    Mutt,
On the lower right hand corner of the Honest Charlie ad, there is a pic of some skirts. What does it say?

I have been studyin' this pic for a while (got from a co-worker), and wondered if the guy had added that little blister on the skirt or what. Then I saw your ad, I can almost make out the blister in the ad. Did those foxcrafts (spl?) come with a blister??

Cruiser skirts did come with the fairing, but I don't know if they all did, or just for chevys, to match the one in the quarter. I'm not a custom guy...sorry. The ad doesn't help. I'll see what I can find out.

**apparently they were for chevy only, because of the quarter design. But they did come that way from the factory.***

    Mutt, thanks for the scans.

  28. Wow that is all what it is about! I dont remeber any of that. So it is cool that you guys talk about this stuff! Us youngsters need to know this stuff. As a kid my pops took to me to the world of wheels show and would get get a treat by seeing some the old stuff but the last couple of years we had it around my parts it was nothing like the old school stuff any more! so I really enjoy when I get to hear some of this stuff. I have to take my hat off and give you guys the respect you deserve.
