hey all my name is karl, been lurking for awhile and finally decided to join up. been into traditional rods for awhile, looking to expand my knowledge and get more into it. this past week i spent close to 30 hours cleaning up my uncles 50 merc monterey for the palo alto concours. his dad bought it 2 months old with less than 500 miles on it. the car was painted once in the 70s along with the top being replaced, and its got some headers, but everything else is as original as original gets. the car came very close to having a 427 and a 4speed thrown in it in the 80s, and also came very close to being sold when my uncles father passed away a few years ago. my uncle ended up buying his brother and sister out on the car, and since he didnt really have anywhere to keep it, it ended up at my house. its been to 3-4 local shows in the last few years, but hadnt really gotten the attention it deserved until this last week. we were contacted by someone from the palo alto concours and asked us to bring it down being that the featured marque was ford flatties. my buddy and i spent close to 30 hours cleaning this car up, and man does it look amazing. spent some time talking to justin mozart about his wally welch merc and even got some pics. i have taken a ton in the last few days, even some with the wally welch car. let me know if its ok to post them up, some forums dont like it when you post pics right away. will be making it out to strangers and hopefully the friday night cruise in. take it easy guys -karl
