Im still knocking around ideas about what to do to my 46 ford truck. My right fender is pretty hammered (Been patched and welded a few times) and Im not having much luck finding a replacement. I am not real crazy about the jailbar grill anyway (its too big and flat for my taste) so I was originally thinking about attaching a 40-41 pickup front end since the rest of the body is the same but they are hard to come by and PRICEY. I saw a 47 ford car and thought "Hey,..that might be kinda cool" Im pretty good at makin stuff fit together that dont belong. Has anybody done that? What problems should I anticipate? What car front end should I consider? and do you have one laying around?
I don't think the general curvature and shape of of the fenders and hood where they meet the body will line up very good but I've been wrong before.
Travel up to kansas and i've got a set of front fenders and a hood off a 41 ford pick up. haha Im gunna agree with mr48 that the curves wont quite match but then again, you might be able to pull it off?
I might be getting a 47 truck and the fenders are junk 3 ton ones and was thinking about a similar swap since I have so much 47-8 car stuff leftover ....
I knew it wouldnt just "bolt on"..I realize it would take some fabricating.. but Ive always believed that with enough patience and decent welding /cutting skills anything can be MADE to fit. However, I may need to make a run to Kansas and just go with my original idea.
Or find a '46-'47 Mercury pickup front clip and it'll bolt on http://www.google.com/search?q=1946...h&source=og&sa=N&hl=en&tab=wi&biw=991&bih=561
Thanks Arkie! Thats what Id like to do...unless I stumble across that 46-47 Merc Pickup front end. I appreciate your help.
Last night, i saw a thread where a guy was mating a 39 chevy grill to the front of his truck, while keeping the hood. It was fenderless, and kinda like a bobber truck, but i thought it looked like it was going to be a real nice look. Sorry, dont know what the thread was called. I read to much. lol.
