OK gentlemen, I'm stuck for awhile with other work and can't get to my HAMBster, won't get free 'til after the Fourth. Sustaining a bit of Ha/GR withdrawal I think, need to hear from y'all.

So? Someone MUST be up to SOMETHING, it's been entirely too quiet here. C'mon guys, who's doing what?

Just loading my baby up ready for the current tech inspection. We've got a test & tune coming up in the next week or so, first time timed with the new combination.

Workin' on the B-Ville heap, and it's transport vehicle.

If it wasn't for the racing effort I wouldn't have any drama in my life at all.

Thrashing my brains out getting the float ready for the Fourth of July parade in Sierra Madre. About two months behind on the build this year, due to time wasted on changes ordered by Tournament. Slowly making that time up. Also have several things on to-do list for the Barn Job before the third ANRA at the end of August. :(

So naturally, "Someone" springs another meet on us at the end of July. Rocky, you're a cruel, heartless, evil scion of the devil himself. OK, maybe not, but you sure do know how to string a racer out. :p :D

The crank for my slantie is back at the shop having an installer (me) caused scratch removed. Also, another .001" is being removed from the main and rod journals to make a little more room for oil.
I'm not hampered by building any parade floats but my '40 Plymouth tow vehicle is taking lots of time. Should be installing the engine for the final time next week.
Really envious of you California guys having a group of Hambsters to race with.

Well, To be honest with you Bob, Racing in general has got to expensive for my measley wallet.. I just can't afford to keep putting out the high costs that it takes to keep a race car on the track. I need something that the budget will allow..Open wheel trailer,A can of gas, Tool box, Pull truck, and thats it. I knew my 194 was not the correct engine. (even though the block was cast in April of 62) I thought , "What the heck" At least it would put one more car on the track for the HAMBsters.. Soooo back to the drawing board, and try to mix/match a running car back to life....

    Hey ****,

Now that there's one SDRA car going together out here, you could hook a slushpump to that 194 and be the second one. You'd be more consistent than me (though of course I'm still faster :p) in Open Wheel at Butch's meets, and us HAMBster types still all square off together during qualifications on Saturdays.
'Course, the flattie'll put you back in the HAMBie running in addition to the rest of it. Tough choice, eh?

Funny thing actually, more HA/GRs'll be a problem at Butch's. They're only managing two qual rounds these days, and we'll need to make other arrangements to finish our own races when they go three or more (a certainty with 5 cars & no breakage). Can't sign up for a second cl*** just to get extra practice runs the way NE guys use Open Wheel, we don't fit another cl***. Can't at all during elims. Perhaps a flag run or two after Sunday's elims as sort of an HA/GR & SDRA show or something, any ideas?

And of course you can still choose me off at Rocky's, if you dare ;). I've been beaten there by Lee, Joe, and Timmy (C/GD) so far, and I only barely squeaked by Jeana and Les last time. :D

Ive decided to use the 48 Merc block instead of the 53.. Reason.. It has a bell housing incorperated in the block. Easier to get or make adapters. I already have a C4 trans with a converter. But still might use the 4 speed muncy....We will see..

Hey ****, good to hear you're getting the old girl out again, flat motors rule, I love your choice. There's nothing like the feel of a flattie pulling hard.
I hope to be able to catch up with you guys in August, will keep ya'll posted.

**** -- Put the C4 in it and we can match race during qualifying.

But on the other hand it would be great to have the first V8 Flathead HA/GR on the coast. It will be fun ether way.
