Is the only mount for the engine the one in the front right behind the radiator, and the one for the transmission? Simple question, but the guy before me decide to cut them all out and replace them with what appears to be anything he could find to mount the 302....For his transmission mount, he ran a piece of 3/8" by 1-1/2" bar stock with one bolt in each to hold it to the lower c section of the frame and two holes in the middle for the transmission, the thing is sagging a good inch or so. LOL Rebuilding one that someone hasnt jerry rigged before me would be so much easier......
The trucks used a single mount in the center under the front pully and one on each side of the bellhousing. Nothing under the trans. The cars used a mount on each side of the engine about in the middle and a mount I believe under the trans, like a modern car set up. I have no frame mounts on my project I am building mine and using uneversal engine mounts from speedway. 2 in the front one for each hole and one on each side of the bell housing.
Luckily I have the front mount...... The side mounts I'm ***uming sit right behind the generator on the drivers side, and in front of the filter on the p***engerside and are vertical........right?
i am not looking at my engine but I believe so. There are three holes in a triangle formation, I believe one on top and the two on the bottom of the triangel.
Are you needing to put a 223 in your truck? The truck 223's have a cast iron timing cover and the cars had a tin cover... U-shaped bracket bolts to trucke timing cover with the single mount in front .. the cars had the two mounts on the sides .. the rear mount was the bell housing Dude")
I can't tell from your original post whether you are looking to go back to the stock 223 setup or you are looking to improve the 302 mounting. Here is a photo of a F100 ch***is with a 223 mounted...you can see the front mounts and the bellhousing rear mounts in the photos.
