    Hi,
I'm new on here and looking for some electrical help. I have a '61 dodge polara with a 361 and today I put a new voltage regulator in and when I started the car and turned the lights on to test it out every light bulb in the car blew when I hit the gas! Then I put the old regulator back in and it is still doing the same thing. When I put a volt meter to one of the dash light sockets it goes up to 70 + volts the more I step on the gas. now the interior light wont work either even with a good bulb. It was working fine before this. Any ideas?

First off ill start by saying that if youve made your intro then you should probably post this question on the general board, i made the same mistake and the moderators were pretty quick to let me know. So any way on with the question its been awhile since ive worked on any mopars but if 2 different voltage regulators are duplicating the same event then its probably not the regulator, has the black gooey stuff on the back of said regulator melted? if not i would move to the ballast resistor and check it out i would also check the continuity of the entire charging circuit. the regulator is what keeps the alternator from overcharging. if youve done that then pm me and i will continue helping you trouble shoot
