Well I decided to build me a shop truck, just a beater to haul stuff in. I liked the 47 pickup I had but the front end I did not like. So one day I went to my scrap pile and found a 47 car front clip. With the help of cut off wheels and a mig welder this is what I came up with. I also istalled one of my 3" dropped axles, put a 9" rear end flipped on top of springs, a T-5 5 speed and a flatty motor. I did a step by step article on lowering the front end with a dropped axle that I will be posting on my web site I hope soon.

Wow! If I had seen that before I sold my '46, I'd have kept it! Looks great!

Not usually a fan of these kinds of modifications, but I have to admit, this one is bitch'n. Nicely done.

I agree, it really does make the truck easy on the eyes. It really great to have a stock pile of old ford part and a vast imagination.

A surprising combo, works well! Those things are a bit challenged in the handsome mug competition.

  21. That's really a big improvement on the jail bar mug. If I would have seen that truck just sitting on the street I would have thought it was stock. Nice!

    That looks pretty nice.

I thought this treatment would work really well with a 48-50 F1 – I had even started searching for the parts to do it.

Damn! That is how Ford should've built em. Great job! Now everyone is going to copy you. We'll see them pop up at all the shows and the price for '47 Ford front ends will skyrocket

I absolutely love this! I've learned not to expect much when I see a title like this on the HAMB, but once in a great while, wow! Dig it, great vision, great job.

Wow That is sharp. Ugly duckling? Not any more! If fords designers had only thought of that!

  28. Looks great. Much better than Ford's idea.

I'd suggest adding 48-52 FI rear fenders, they would match the fronts.
