3 speed w/od trans. 1930???

    hi again, well i just picked up a 30 tudor with a flathead, it has a c4 hooked to it. it is a 1950 engine. i have 2- 3speed w/ od ******s and know nothing about them. i would like to run a manual trans in the tudor, will this trans work? where might i get a bell housing/clutch/flywheel/12v starter. if not rite trans, which should i run. your help is always appreciated. thanks again, John:)

    just talked to my dad, he believes the 3 sp/ele-od trans came out in 49, any opinions to support this, im sure he's close if not rite on, he had a bunch of flathead v-8 cars when i was little, glad he remembers them and can share the knowledge with me, thanks Dad

    Ford never had an OD that fit a closed drive rear, 1949 was the first. I believe Rambler did make a closed drive OD though.

    the "A" has a 9" rear , it came in the car and i will be using it as this is a hot rod not a complete car. its clean enough, just not all the parts, thanks for the input , i wasn't sure what year parts to look for, John

    Ford had closed driveline version from '46-'48 that used a Borg on the back of it like this one.

    Some people really like 'em.

    The solenoid interferes with cross members and ends up causing some necessary trans and/or frame mods.
