Ever walk into an old dairy barn and "discover" a complete metalworking shop with all the tools and equipment you could ever want? ---it happened to me in Minnesota after being invited there by new Hamb friend (rouye56wingnut) aka Dan. He knew I was coming close to his town and asked me to come over and look at some of his "junk." I was impressed...
Dan is a member of the metal meet forum and even hosts workshops or cl***es at his farm a couple times a year. He had alot of neat projects too!
Then he showed me how to use one of the shrinker machines and you can watch the video here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=m_qTME4PJzA
PF, That is a cool video!!! Keep making those and the rest of us could learn how to form metal too! Paul
Cool beans Paul, I didn't here a lot of conviction in your voice when Dan ask if you wanted to try it. That baby could trim a fingernail in a hurry. Thanx for showing this cool set up. ~sololobo~
Most commercial dairy farms have a good working shop. My brother in law has a dairy farm in upstate N.Y. and has a shop to fix all their equipment. They can't usually wait for a mechanic, or afford to pay one!
Well, I grew up on a dairy farm and we sure didn't have any equipment. Of course Dan didn't have any cows! Ha ha
Dans a great teacher. I have learnt much at the Metalmeets over the years. Looking forward to starting the 28 Chevy project so I can have something to do there.
Best dairy barn I ever seen! Kind of a covert operation going on there. Sure helps to keep the nosey people out of your hair I imagine.
Paul,You should have had **** record you ,it looked like you were having fun.You should have shown what it looked like after you ran it through the Slap-on English wheel.Has your heart beat come back to normal after taking the 'Stairway to Heaven"? I forget sometimes what I even have up there, but usualy if I need something its up there.Any way it was a great visit only too short.I was running on 40 hrs being awake at that point but could have gone longer.
Pov I sold Dan some stuff over the years he is a great guy, and one hell of a craftsman plus being the go to guy for manual trans one more of our "Tresures" as you know there not all out there in the west I am so glad you had time to meet some of our boys later
Dan, way cool shop! I have heard of your work... all GOOD! I really look up to a guy who has metal skills, as mine are, lets say not real good! I would have loved to seen Poverty working metal! You should see him paint a car, with a 3" house brush!!!!!!! Pauls skills are truely professional as a people pleaser and fine dining taste tester!
I was waiting for the Looney Toon's giant smashed thumb moment! Great tool, even better finger nail remover.
You bet Dan's a good guy!! The Metalshaping meets he hosts are as good as it gets!! I have a few pictures I'll post when I have more time. Jeff
