Man, Having owned my 60 Sedan Delivery for the last 39 years I have a real soft spot in my heart for them. I'll raise the bar one more notch on you. If you drag that SDL out of the woods and really get started working on it,I'll donate a back window to the cause! You pay the shipping. Those back windows have a compound curve to them so flat gl*** won't work.
The longer it sits there, the more it will rust. Also there is also the chance someone else will end up with it or even worse someone will tell the owners it is worth a pile of money... You better just go get it...
My dad actually had to go to my sisters house in Maine this week so he's gonna stop by and see the people that own the house and tell them we'll be over one weekend to get started clearing a path to get it out.Heres to another can of worms!
For a northeastern woods car, and for a 58-62 GM anything, it's not bad at all. Be aware the X-frame can rot pretty bad, though, the '58 Sedan Delivery I saved years ago was rotty under the cowl area as well as from the axle on back. But, it's a Chevrolet, and all but convert use the same frame - parts are ridiculously easy even if you have to find say a 4-door sedan and use it to donate an entire frame and as much of the floor as will match up. The 58 I had was so bad the guy who bought it just took the top of it - like a model car body shell - no floor, no frame. Like six, eight months later he emailed me up asking how to register it, so I ***ume he combined it with a donor car and saved it -
****pile of cars or not that is a must have, Deliveries are WAYYYY cool, Hell I would drive from michigan to get it if somebody was willing to give it to me
Need more info & the rescue pics please. You DID go get it right?????? And you DID take pics right????
It looks to be in slightly better shape then the one thats in another thread that used to be a race car.
Its nearly 1400 mile's-one way from me. Lets go FNG! How about the trade for the Sinclair sign? Let me save dat beach from a s-l-o-w death.
sedan deliveries are EXPENSIVE and somewhat rare. GRAB IT and sell it to someone who has time and money but PLEASE don't let it rot to death. ok nevermind just read the rest of the post and he's gone........
That's kinda what I was thinking except maybe he got it and was too busy working on it. I'd like to know what happened to it as well. I remember first reading about it before I was even a member.
That was the last of the Full size Sedan deliveries from G M . it also was a rare breed as I beleive mabye 700 might have been built . Best get it and do something with it . scrubba
I used to own one of these back in the 70's. It was one of most fun cars I have ever owned. It was a POS, but I had a great time driving it...
