Safe at home. Saved from the s****per. AND I have a ***le. Last dated 1965. This car was saved from a wrecking yard in the 70's. They were s****ping cars and the guy saved this. Pretty much untouched from the day he saved it. The rearend and seats had been removed, but he installed a Galaxie rear and seats. Engine is not original and he doesn't know the source. Appears to be later FE. I have a 429 I'd like to bolt in if they fit without mods. First 2 pics are before we loaded it. The rest are on the trailer. Just gonna store it for now. Lots of other projects on the front burner.

So, after all of us trying to
    provide ideas, you'll at least
    tell us how many simoleons
the guy did accept for it?

Great save? How much did it take to save it from the crusher?

From the pictures, it looks like a good deal if you pais double the s**** price for it. And a great deal if you got it for s**** price.

Great save! Paint is black and put it on the ground. Edsel Hardtops can be very ***y cars if done right, show a little restraint and it'll be a head turner.

Hows about $400. Gonna pick up a 61 Ford country wagon in about a week from him. Front right fender banged up but otherwise in better condition than this one.

Scott, considering that only the back bumper and some minor details are missing (and if the fella was happy), then you made a good score AND one you can sleep with that at night. Good and FAIR deal. My dad once had to give away a 4,300-pound Chrysler for free, just to get smebody to come and haul it away. Shows how the metals markets ebb and flow.

ANYWAY, YOU have a good TWO-DOOR HARDTOP EDSEL worth saving!!!

  14. Very cool!

That car could be a stunner... as Tim says... show a little restraint... drop it, the right wheels and tires and WHAM! Instand success!

Thank you for saving another beautiful old car. We should all try to start the Historic Detriot Iron Preservation Act!

  17. Looks like a good builder there, the only tough spot might be gl***.

It does need a few things. Rear pans are shot, the rest is ok. Needs gas tank, exhaust system, driveline and radiator. Not too much else, the rear seat back is missing but these seats are cool. They are red metalflake(sparkly looking) that have old seat covers on them that are about worn off. Pretty cool looking. I figured it'd be easier to remove items for now. Prep and paint the whole car a basic white, with white stock rims and with the roll cage and a number on the side, looks like an old stock race car. At any time, as money permits, I can install the new items to more complete it. Until then looks like an old race car and I'm having fun. OR! May just get it running and have some fun. I'm glad I saved it.

Rear gl*** is in my truck. Side gl*** is all flat. The front gl*** is available. Not cheap, but it is available. Due to all the broken gl***, that added to my stock car idea. Less to fix and find now. As I find and fix the gl*** components, I just keep the window rolled down and it still looks the same.

I think its called a country squire? Can't remember. Its not the same price, a bit more. Probably looking to flip it down the road. Not sure yet. Gotta do some homework to set a value before I make that decision.

That will move quick! Wagons (especially that body style) are hot as hell! Good luck on your next purchase.

    Good save, Scott!
Way too many Edsels ended up crushed-I'm glad that one escaped!
Hope you get the wagon saved as well. They're good property right now!
