We have entirely too many names for the New color that "Big Olds" sports.Help HRLC Figgure out what to name this Color.
Man, what a crew! Looks like you guys were having fun. Wished I could of been there. Denise, The car looks great! Did you get your package? Gene
How about "Smoky Mountian Orchid Mist". Your crew should be on the Discovery channel or TLC just like Boyd and Jesse and Foose. You build nicer stuff than they do. pigpen
The '61 Olds color that Earl Schieb used as a guideline to what I was looking for is called Twlight Mist poly. He mixed my color blind, bucket mixed he called it. So now it needs to be named. I really like Concord Smoke cuz it's really a purplish grey before it a greyish purple. I did take lots of photos today but have now way of downloading them right now. I will post bunches on Sunday after we get home. I've gotta add a huge THANKS to all my southern buddies that came out tonight to help celebrate one more step completed in "Project Big Olds". I had an awesome time with you guys, I always do. Thanks so much for making this nite special. I absolutley LOVE the color no matter what it's going to be called! HAMB guys from left to right KustomFleetline, HRLC, Jalopy43, Earl Scheib standing, Hollywud, Roadstar, JStorm
Sure looks like Charcoal Grape to me. I like it. Wonder what the next big hit color will be? Maybe Sunshine Black TM ?
I like "Charcoal Grape" myself...or: Violet Smoke Purple Fog Dusk Plum Twilight Violet Grapeyard Mist Smokin Grape Polluted Purple Bruised Grey Greype Smokey Swurle
Twilight mist? Isn't that the color GM named the that color when used on early-mid 60's Pontiacs? I believe chevy used it too but renamed it "Evening Orchid" and slathered it on many 65 Malibus. I love that color too, although men aren't supposed to like light purple and lavender colors.....supposed to mean we're a little "light in the loafers" if ya know what I mean. I was giving serious thought to painting my 65 elcamino that color but it went away with it's stock white coat still on it. Now, Denise..............you ARE aware you can't run that color on any car without whitewall tires, aren't you? Wide whites are recommended. Do I see a sliver of whitewall showing on that right rear tire??????
That's a great photo, something that will really be appreciated 20, 30 years from now. Car looks great! Joel
I feel out of place in the pic, the only guy in white. oh well. I had a great time anyways and it was good to see everyone again. Hope you all had a good time in maryville.
Wow! We just got home from an absolutly Great, and wet, weekend. Thanks Denise, Rudy,Mike and the gang for the 'Comming out party" Had a great time. The Drags were rained out,but we all had fun anyway, meeting new Hambers, and sharing Denise's cookies under canopies in the rain. Thank you Bullet Boy,and the crew at the track,we'll have to do it again! BTW I like" Ladycruiser lavender", for the paint color. Sparky
Do not fret my friend, there are VERY wide whites on Big Olds My camera broke but as soon as Roadstar gets home he will send me some of the photos that were taken over the weekend and I'll post them. Yes..... as long as it doesn't rain!
We are gonna miss Big Olds Being so Close to us here.....BUT all good thing must come to an end I guess. Its Good to see you so happy girl!
Kimberly and I just got home too. What a great weekend....even with the rain. Sorry I didn't get to talk to everyone before we left. I wanted to get somewhere dry and check out why the 56 was acting so goofy. If any of you heard me leave... ....you probably heard the engine redline....BIG TIME. The rpms were high but the car was barely moving. Once we got into Maryville, taking off at an intersection, the rear of the car bottomed out like I'd just ran over a pot hole. Either the new brake shoes popped back into place or whatever was dragging broke. We didn't have any more problems the rest of the weekend. I'm still going to check everything out tomorrow......WHILE IT'S DRY! Oh yeah, my vote for favorite color goes for: Atta-girl Grape! or Ladycruiser lavender
Thank you sweetheart. I'm very, very happy, thrilled in fact. I'm going to miss seeing you and the rest of the boys as often as I did this past winter. Words can't describe what your friendship means to me. Your a blast to hang around. This is only the begining. We've got another 40 years or so of being friends. It will just take alittle effort on both our parts to see each other. Looking forward to getting one of your AWESOME hugs in June. xoxoxo
