I have cokers on my truck and just got a set of firestones for the car. I have never had issues with the cokers and my buddy who runs firestones has had none with his. I chose the stones for the car mainly for the looks. All whitewalls will crack if you use the wrong cleaners or let them sit. We know you won't be doing that so only use the cleaners recomended by coker and you should be good.

coker or stones your gonna get a good tire...stones may get you the thumbs up but coker will make your wife happy......at the end of the day both will treat you well.

  9. 1. Join The H.A.M.B. Alliance. Spend $50 to support this site and use the Alliance discount at Coker (the discount will be greater than the $50 spent).

    2. Buy the Firestones. Great looks on a good tire. I've had them on my '34 for 4 years with no problems, whatsoever!

    3. Order Dyna-Beads for inside the tire to harmonically balance the tires each time you drive.

    4. Enjoy your ride!

  11. I went with Stones on the '51 Caddy I had when it needed tires because that's what it had when it was new. They also looked great.

Coker produces the Cokers and the Firestones (they own the Firestone molds) so I'd think the rubber compound would be the same., the only difference being the Firestone's were original factory equipment. Coker owns the molds for many old time /name brand bias ply tires............Mike

  15. We have firestone 670s on our '53 and they look great. Vintage Ford should have them in stock on the shelf if you drive to Rancho.

Do a little research as to what company makes tires,
    Then decide which you like.
Brand names can be confusing, but determining where they are manufactured helps.

I refer Firestone's look but that's my choice . That is what came on the 50's Fords and they look good .
Really either one you choose should be a good tire but I still like the Firestone look !

  19. when it comes to firestones what would look better the 2 3/4 ww or the 3 1/4??

  20. the reason im making kinda a big deal about it is because its a lot of money for me to drop so i want to make the absolute correct decision.

My choice would be BF Goodrich's tires.

I simply find they out last just about every other tire I ever had on an old car.

  22. This is what mine looked like on the '51 Caddy.

  23. These are my 6.70-15 Firestone Champion Deluxe w/ 3 1/4" WWW. I got them through Coker, and like I mentioned before, they are MADE IN THE USA!
The tires I replaced were the same tires but really old. My old Firestones were made in New Zealand. I had no issues with either sets of Firestones.
When it comes time to buy tires for my pick-up project, I'm buying Firestones again.

I prefer the look of Firestones as well and have owned a few sets of of 670-15's. I have been happy with them and will buy more next time I need some.

  25. That does look really good! I think thats what im going to go with. Do you think the 3 1;4 might look a little too big for my 53??

If a little is good, a lot is better.

If you could afford the new whitewalls in the late 50's or early 60's you would have bought the widest ones you could get.

Or you would go to the junk yard, or the gas station and get road proven tires, and they would have been wide whites, too.

Can't go wrong unless the era you are going for is for the later years when the narrow whites were new.

  27. yeahh i want the wide white style but didnt the 40s cars have bigger whites than the 50s from the factory?

I know what you mean about gettin a new set of tires and wheels and you get them on and boom they look wrong. It is a matter of preference,I prefer 2 1/2 or 2 5/8.

You better call vintage first, cause when I went a couple weeks ago they didnt have anything but 17" and 16" stuff for them model A's. I ended up ordering them from coker and with the alliance discount it was well worth it. They were at my door three days later.
