I want to try my hand at sign painting...My question is: What are the must have brushes to look for? Thank you in advance
Quills for lettering. Daggers or scrollers for striping. Need paint too. One Shot Not Rustoleum. After that a ****load of practice. What I did... VonDad
Go to a Barnes & Noble they have a couple of "how to" books. Go to a auto paint store like NAPA and buy a "blue 0" stripeing brush and a can of white paint to start with - no sense buying a bunch of sh-t and find out you just can't do it - right? Then get a piece of gl*** or mirror to practice on. Go to some shows and find a striper and just watch him work. Everyone has a style so check out several - practice, practice, practice - and good luck.
When I want to learn something I always go with the youtube teacher... lot of sh*t but lot of great stuff, from pinstripes to rebuilding a transmission =P
Too bad the "Apprentice" practice isnt going anymore. I worked for a real cool neighbor back in the 70's with his stuff. I learned how to work on cars, whats what, even how to hold a tool so ya dont get hurt. At the end, he gave me a nice set of tools that I would have forever. J.H. Williams by name. I still work on cars, I dont get hurt often or bad, I p*** this gift on, but ONLY to those who really want the gift. Unfortunately, none of my kids. Some body's gonna get some real cool stuff.
