Newbie

Hey guys a friend of mine pointed me in this direction to help me get advice on a cl***ic car. The thing is, I am not really into cl***ics, I am just trying to help a relative get rid of a 1939 oldsmobile 4 door sedan. I dont know where to start as far as what I have to take into consideration when selling a cl***ic car. That is where I hope someone can give a a little advice, or come through to my pad to look at it to get an idea at what we actually have on our hands. My aunt is not planning on restoring it, so It would be a good investment for someone who is into restoring cl***ic cars. Any help would be greatly appreciated and thanks once again guys !!!

 

hello there, you car appears to be in pretty good shape, don't see any rust thru, or missing pieces, which is a big plus for anyone looking into buying it, if the car has it's original motor and transmission and is in working order, that too is a big plus.the interior is as expected for a car that age, ya can't expect upholstery to hold up 70 plus years so it as should be expected, looks as though the dash is complete, my pops has a 39 olds just like yours, but it is not near as nice as yours, so you do have a fairly valuable car, ours is a project that hasn't taken off yet. one thing i did notice that is in need of repair is the grille,39 olds are not a very common car, which might make finding a grille a little bit tough, but not impossible, i have seen them on ebay before, and are bound to be on there again sometime. as for an overall evaluation of the car it looks to be about 99% complete.i am in no way any kind of proffesional at old car values, but in my mind somone would have a very good car to restore or hotrod. hope i was in someways informative about your car, good luck on selling it and hope it brings your aunt the money that she wants!

 

You have an excellent start for somebody who wants to restore a cl***ic and a very good car for a person interested in rodding it out. As good as it is I think I'd start by going to Hemmings and see what a 28 Olds might be bringing. You can also find a good market there for those that happen to be looking for one. Good luck!
