Worked hard yesterday to fix the daily driver custom to park it in today's 4th of July Jubilee in Old Town Eureka, as I helped at the Cruz N Eureka promo tent (great to see n bench cruise with all that dropped by, btw), a**** things yesterday swapped out the lower hose, flushed the rad, installed the new thermo, the cush Felpro I'd ordered turned out to be the wrong part, had to settle for the cheapo gasket that came with the thermo (switched from OEM temp to 180 temp thermo with better results). Left it at th shop for sealant to cure overnight, psyched to show up early this a.m., find the seal holding, my new coolant level just fine, etc. If only I'd had time to wash the car and finish etching off the windshield decal lettering! Had to show it off with that job half-done, super selfconcious about it, til the sun finally burned off the coastal clouds, and I said Screw It and finished the top layer of the job despite everyone walking around. That said... it was the first time in a long while I showed off something. My main kustom F100 is perpetually in the shop, great to have something to show off, yet it CAN take getting used to people pouring around in, stickin their head inside to check out the pimp interior, etc. So I brought it up to pal Merle, he told funny stories of walking up to his '23 Buick bucket roadster, asking if anyone was the owner, then opening the lil door at the perfect point that lifts the bucket up a little. More stories of he, his bud and even his son getting in on punking the spectators. We make ourselves tired just to get it there lookin decent, split by feelings of Aw Screw It, Let The Unfinished Biz Show and Aw Screw It, I'll Finish It Here and Now. Caught up with my wife when she got off work, and her family, rest of the Fourth has been laid back, hope yours has been too, if not fun! Did you show off your ride today? Participate/host a cruise or show n shine?
It was poifict!! We went too mom's an' had a bbq.. Ate and got drunk then the wife drove us to go see some fireworks..
pretty good. went to my uncles house and we hung out, they drank, and we put on some fake mustaches and made a fake bar. we trademarked "Stache'n'Shots" so no one can use it. went out to watch the fireworks which stopped halfway till the neighborhood finished it off for us. so all in all pretty damn good. didnt get nothing done on cars or bikes today though.
Spent the whole day not wanting to go out and get tied up in the crowds. Ended up @ Seal Beach pier. Easy going and not crowded and got to see fireworks from 4 differant area's from the pier. So it turned out great.
It was a blast, worked yesterday and this morning. Went to a buddies to watch the parade in Spreckles then went to a friends ranch for a fireworks show with a chick I know. Good times. Nothings better then blowing shtuff up to celebrate the birthday of the greatest country of em' all..
Spent the whole day on my project '51 F1, finding more stuff that I have to correct from the po's build. Good thing is, all the suspension work, which was professionally done is fine. All I have left is everything else. Too tired to go see the fireworks, maybe I'll go make my wife mad, that'll start some fireworks!
Buena Park, Ca. a War Zone on the 4th....one of six cities left in the O.C., that still allow fireworks......was great!
Pretty good 4th. Had to work for a few hours in the morning. Went to the hospital and watched tv with Julie. Around 8, Tossed her in a wheelchair and sat in the hospital parking lot and watched the fireworks from Upland high school. The gun fire around Ontario reminded me of home.......
Turned out to be a great 4th. I had been working on a deal with the military on a large order of insulation going to Kawait. They want to add some insulation to some of their vehicles being used in the desert over there. Instead of jacking the price up since it was the military I gave them the Alliance discount. Received payment yesterday through Paypal and now will be shipping 20 rolls measuring 4'x 60' to them. Hopefully they will be cooler in the desert now while defending our freedom and allowing us to continue to enjoy what we do here.
I spent the day working in the shop. Then went home and had a few beers while relaxing to Buck Owens on my back porch. All in all really good day.
Wife and I spent it building a fence behind my workshop. It was fun, actually. Day before that, my daughter and I were in N. Arizona checking on our property and let her drive. She's 13. Cruised St. Johns, did some picking, got some cool antiques and tools.
Wife and I jumped in the g***er and did a parade in a little town about 20 miles away. There were 142 cars there, and they had a cruise in after the parade. It was my wife's first trip in the '46 Austin since it got on the road a few months ago, and she had a ball tossing candy to the kids along the route!
a good day, kids & grandkids came over. put a fuel pump on one of the kids truck, fished in my lake and shot off some fireworks. Grandma was happy, then I'm happy, a good day
Several members of our club were invited to a gentleman's house/farm along with a least 100 other people and had BBQ and rode his Double Decker bus around his property to his different buildings looking at his vast collection of cars, tractors, hit & miss engines and his own steam powered trains. Lunch time was signaled with not one but 3 Civil War era cannons manned by rein-actors in period dress wool uniforms,,and it was in the high 90's. He also has a very impressive collection of signs, more pea****s than you can imigine roaming around and some of the hit & miss engines were powering a cotton gin,a hugh fan in what he calls his beach house?,,I guess it's because it's so high of the ground. There was also a saw mill powered by bit hit & miss engines making cedar shakes. There was a country/blue gr*** band that was quiet good. I left around 3 and went to help a fellow club member install the fenders on his 1932 Ford coupe and got home around 7:30,,ate leftovers and watch all the fireworks up and down the lake,,all in all a great day. HRP
Shot a Feral Hog and cooked him in the smoker pit. Neighbors gathered and consumed lots of pork and cold beer. The only way to get even with them is eat them and they breed faster than I can eat.
I had my annual Independence day party then went tubing with friends a 3 day weekend without talking to someone about parts or cars... That only happens about once a year and Jeanne and I really enjoy the time we spend with our family and friends!! We need this summer break just before the Iola show and swap meet that starts this Thursday-Sunday!!
It was Awesome! Big fireworks display Friday, 4Th party on Saturday w/a $600 display w/a bunch of cops at a cookout. Made some good coin at a yard sale Sunday, great Chinese food at our favorite restaurant Sat. nite and Transformers in 3D with my kiddios!
I had a good day in the garage. I proved that the gas gauge was indeed wrong and there was no gas left. I dropped the tank and found a stuck sending unit and some rust flakes that I washed out. I averted a big potential problem. Just another step closer to fire in the hole. It was a good day. I was getting frustrated but things make sense now.
Took the (OT, sorry) Bluesmobile to a small 4th of July parade with a buddy of mine that has an old Studebaker fire truck. We always wear the cheap black suits, fedoras and Ray Bans, so we posed for photos before the parade and even got the mayor of our city and a congressman to put on Blues Brothers hats & gl***es for a photo with us. They thought it was cool. We left there (with the big speaker on the roof!) and went a few miles up the road (slowly) to a car show that benefitted a local not-for-profit children's hospital. We're always amazed at the reaction that car gets from the general public, even when we're not at a car show or charity event. Tons of smiling faces & thumbs up all the way there and even had a few people hanging out their windows taking photos of us on the road up the to the show. At the show we invited a few car-guy friends over to the house for a simple cookout of hot dogs, brats & beer and a few side dishes. THe torrential downpour at 6 PM put the kibosh on all of the local fireworks though. After everyone went home I tinkered with the battery box for the 49.
Went to one party..worked on the house, cruised to a 4th get together in Georgetown and found out my roadster got picked to be on the 2012 Snap on Tools Wall calender!! Also finishing up plans for Cruise to Alaska in August!!!
I went to a Car Show at a local church in Redlands, CA and I took the picture from my cell phone in the Churchs main Men's Room. It's my buddy Bill Carey next to the restroom adornment. The Urinals are to the right of the motor. Pretty cool and very unexpected.!!!!
Reminds me of going to my grandfolks' when they had a house atop the San Clemente cliff... a good year was being able to see clearly the S.C. show to the left and the Dana Point show to the right. If it was overcast, it was like colorful alien warfare in the sky.
What an awesome 'round the country collection of responses, thanks for sharing, and thanks to all those serving and who have served for our freedom, freedom to fake-stache, innovate, check out motors in a church mens' room, or scratch off one's windshield lettering. If yer into that.
I rode this all day on Sat....(TTR 90) ....And then later that day I did this.....(warning for gore factor)... http://s182.photobucket.com/albums/x27/blinkltjfan/?action=view¤t=IMAG0282.jpg http://s182.photobucket.com/albums/x27/blinkltjfan/?action=view¤t=IMAG0285.jpg Hurt like hell for Sun and Monday but better today, cant work for a day cause I do shipping/receiving and cant really lift any thing and Im pretty hobbley but will hit the grind on Thurs. I drove my Hot Rod all damn weekend!! Read all about it here: http://waywardgarage.com/3055/so-i-drove-my-hot-rod-all-damn-weekend/
Went to my son's for family bbq.. various dead creatures on the grill. Teriyaki chicken, dawgs, brats, burgers, and ribs. Lotsa conversation and then retired to the front yard for the most excellent illegal fireworks show. Followed up by sweeping down the cul de sac to ease the morning cleanup.
