I picked up a 51' ford that was built in the 80's (80's flames n'all). My plan is to go mild 50's custom on it. Can't do a ground up, this needs to become a daily driver ASAP. Anyway, Im not planning on chopping the top quite yet. However, I am planning on dropping it a few inches and putting on a nice set of hub caps. Not choppin the top makes the paint job really important. Anybody got some cool ideas? maybe a cool trim setup? Im open to just about anything that goes with the already installed black interior.

Thanks in advance for the help folks!

No way man, this is San Antonio....they're just getting popular!

Thanks, I'll check that site out.

  5. Here is a quick drop of the car and shave.

  6. Maybe a creamy gold color with pagan gold pearl in the clear, too lazy to remove the flames, Chrome rims.

I like that style alot! Maybe similar trim in a 2 tone metallic green? That would be super swanky.

    that's not pontiac trim.

  14. yeah, let's see some green and green combos! Like maybe new VW Beetle green and a darker green?!

  15. Nice car. If you want a daily driver ASAP I wouldn't change much. First, I would toss those mirrors real quick, bring her down to earth, through on some chrome steelies, and cruise....

Whatever ya do, keep us posted!

  17. Dropped on the ground with 57 caddy caps and wide whites.....use 51 Crestliner side trim and tutone the car with colors of your choice. Personally, I've seen it done with 50 crestliner trim and red paint with a black cove...was more striking than it sounds but it was done on a coupe....
51 'liner trim would work better for this long-top sedan.....either way, you need something to break up that vast expanse of slab-side.
Also, I don't mind the flames too bad....they help break up the vast----etc etc etc...
Not a bad start at all but I love shuboxes....

I like the 60's look with skinny whites and chromes. You don't see many shoeboxes done that way - there are too many done 50's style...
    Or how about some Astros?

  22. Nice lookin photo chop! I likey :)

  23. As much as flat black has been catching crap around here lately, those Shoes really do lend themselves to that color.

Go w/ flat black primer (shot out of a gun), a lowering as severe as you can stand, and some of these for the wheels. They'd really set it off w/ the skinny whites and black wheels. If you can't find them in our wheel pattern, reversed chrome smoothies can be had from Summit for $75 a piece. Just don't run the damn center caps!
