I am 29 and am on the fence regarding this subject. I have a year of college left and can really get back into projecting after that. I don't sell much of anything really but sometimes I've made a sale. I am out of work and times are difficult.

There is some stuff that will never leave unless an insane amount of money is offered for it. Too often I will get a douchebag that thinks I am blind as to what I have even though to me, it's a car that gets used. Not a showpiece or a piece of shipwreck gold to ohh and ahh over. When people offer you a lowball of like $500, why would you be motivated to sell it?? Honestly, I'd rather keep what I have than to practically give it away. The flippers are easy to weed out. I don't have a problem with people making money on a car but these are types of people that literally offer you near nothing for it. If you really wannna be bothered, run a local ad and see how many idiots come out of the woodwork.

"Well, it's just sitting there and you haven't done anything with it!"..."It's mine and until you're name is on the title please go grab a nice hot cup of STFU!!"

Also why is it that when you are driving a car, people try to buy it for nothing and assume it's for sale? Do they figure they are gonna get a quick steal because the old car is all you have or can afford? Drive a primered car around and really think it's not worth anything.

I have been on the recieving end of the "is it for sale".

My wifes first car was a POS 1985 mustang 4 cylinder stripped model (no radio or A/C). She had graduated from college and bought a new car and refused to drive the mustang so I drove it to college so my truck wouldn't get all beat up with door dings.

The car was worth maybe $300 on a good day to someone with limited eyesight.

This car was a real POS.

We had notes left on it (while sitting in our driveway) asking us if the car was for sale. I never responded.

One day I was in the front yard and someone drove by and stopped and asked me if the car was for sale? I told him sure, $3k cash right now and it was his. He responded "Um no thanks".

We had planned all along to donate it for the tax deduction. The charity stated the value at $3,300 for our tax deduction ($1,100 refund due to 33% tax bracket). Of course this was before they changed the process on how a donated car was valued.

I don't waste time trying to buy from hoarders. Their junk can rot into the ground for all I care. I tend to look at cars that are actually for sale.

Not one to gripe. But I had a guy offer me $30 bucks for my 9 inch rear out of my pickup today IF I delivered it to his shop!
At that rate, I won't sell it. I'll continue to trip over it in the garage. People who totally lowball and act like they are doing me a favor to take it really piss me off sometimes.

I agree coaltownkid it's this simple.. If someone knows that you want it then they will never give it to you . They will make shitty poorly thought out excuses, lead you on or hoard shit for the sake of pissing people off they know want it. It's child like behavior that I saw when I was a kid. Now i see it in this adult life in this hobby

I'm thinking this is total bullshit. Everything I have is for sale (minus willed Vehicles). But do I sell it at a loss so you can start a "hey look at me I bought this for nothing" thread.

Look at it at this way, what it would cost to replace and it's not so easy to let go.

    lmao
every time someone brings up an old thread someone else will undoubtedly bitch and moan about it.
if all that we read and write hear is so useless that it should only be read once or only commented on in real time, why are we here.
    why are there archives.
maybe Ryan should turn this into a real time chat room and end this problem.

i to get agravated at people who will not sell me what i want at really low prices.
other people get mad at me when i do the same to them.
with an acre and a half of junk you might call me a hoarder, but you could have it all for a really honest and fair offer.
i will not give you my stuff for less than scrap prices and i will not sell my stuff for rusty prices if you will not sell me some of yours for less than the platinum price you think it is worth.
    frustrating isnt it.
if my rusty car is junk so is yours.
if your rusty same car is worth bunches, so is mine.
so if this makes me a hoarder then a hoarder am i.
but i will sell what i want at fair prices and i will keep what i want. because its mine.

and if the fact that this thread started 5 yrs ago bothers you, why did you bother to post on it.
    chatroom anyone?
    i vote for archived info.
