I have noticed lookign at various pictures from the events that a number of the cars seem to have brand new serial/vin tags on the wall. how do you get the brand new "Ford" tags? Is it the way I think? How does that work for legality sakes?

Any one out there know forsure if old chevys ('41) were positivly ***led off the floor tag or were many of them of the motor numbers? Mine clearly is ***led from the floor tag, but that tag is no longer there cause the floor is no longer there. State is telling me that all pre '55 were ***led off the motor, therefore my '59 motor in the '41 makes my ***le a pretty green piece of paper, nothing more.

Just bouncing ideas off of those that are older/wiser then me. feel free to PM your thougts if you prefer.

  2. If you are looking at pre 1948 Fords the tags are Patent Plates and "Body Numbers" and not VIN tags. They should be of no interest to the DMV. What year Fords are you looking at?

Im just looking at pictures in general. I may be thinking they are one thing, different from what they actually are.

Im dealing with my '41 chevy. trying to pick brains.

Got a file and a stamp set?

  5. Texas did ***le cars off the motor number - BUT - your car likely came from out of state at a later point and no one questioned it.

True, its from Michigan, thus no floors. I just hate the thought of an asembled vin ***le for it. bugs me. I wish I would have paid more attention to it when I bought it.

  7. Ever find a historical do***ent on E-Bay or Craig's that has something to do with Michigan and a 41 Chevy? Might help. Maybe the HAMB want ads?

Good question,I bought a 46 Chevy out of PENNSYLVANIA that had a brand new vin plate attached to the firewall and it matched the ***le,switched it over to my name here in Fla. with no problem.Previous owner might have applied for it through the state DMV.

I have the ***le for the car. Actually have the original invoice, paper woprking changing to the second owner, paperwork to the third owner. Even all the little dealer papaers that came with it. Just dont have the serial tag.

Its a '41 - not a 40. there is a decent difference between those two years.
