out of curiosity, i was wondering if anyone on here might know anything about this car? my dad bought this car from behind an old run down service station in emmet ark before he died.(15yrs ago)he called it roadkill because we found it on the side of the road. it is the front end of a 51 ford mated to the back half of a 56 ford four door. the dash is from the 51 and the winshield is unknown. the driver sat in the back seat of the 56. there was a buick radio mounted behind the seat back, the tyoe with the built in amp and speaker. and a battery charger was mounted undr the hood with a lead so it could be plugged in when necessary, and it had a complete 51 flathead and 3 spd in it. the grill was a custom piece made out of mesh and unidentified pieces. before he died my dad removed the engine and tranny and sold it to a friend of his in shreveport la. the last deal so to speak. since he died, it has just sat and gathered tree sap. her is what i know; its in hope now previously in emmet before that faulk ark. the owner before my dad said that is where he got it and that it was built somewhere in east texas. it was completed at some point. when my dad got it , it had much better paint and was covered with the old water release style of pinstripe decals. no kidding, the kind you could get from almquist or jc whitney back when. i know the pic is lousy and its a long shot but i was wondering if this car looks familiar to anyone?
I'm a stones throw from Santa Cruz..... Yep- Learn/hear something new everyday. I'll have to ask around.....
Looks like an Altered Wheelbase Gasser project to me. Stuff it full of Chrysler and a four speed you'll really have something. And no Lettuce was harmed in the making of this statement. tim
i thot it was not quite ugly but a little less than pretty and i would bet that the car was built because of the song not the other way round
And all of his bolt holes are gone. How much time did whoever take to make that car? ?????? A closer pic would help some folks recognize the car, and might find somebody that knows it from Miller Co, AR. You might be surprised. Get it on some rubber and show a little more it that's possible. Best of luck with searches.
as soon as i get the chance i intend to post some better pics. i just ran across that one and threw it up to see if i could get any info. thanks
I think I'd back up and run over it again just to make sure. Actually I think it has potential. If you can make the body limes agree with each other I'd probably whack the roof off and move the rear wheels back an inch or two, stick a pinto motor in it and have a ball. Or eliminate one axle and the door, slide it together and build a cool rod run trailer.
