well, I'm sure it's against the law in Oregon, too, so good luck with that.

  3. I am not a lawyer but I have heard that there is a (possibly) legal way to skirt the "must be a charity" type law. You simply sell a picture of the car for $500 (or whatever price you set), as a "thank you" for purchasing the picture you are also including a "free" raffle ticket for a chance to win the car.

Basically you are not "selling" raffle tickets, you are just selling a picture.

As stated earlier ... I am NOT a lawyer and am not suggesting this way is actually legal, just passing on something I heard once.

Had you pointed that out in your first post, not much of this would have transpired...

At $5.00 a ticket, you'd have everyone falling all over each other to buy 'em (and I prolly would have bought a $1000.00 worth -not that I want a Deuce anyway, but I would flip it fast had I won it...at $50.00 a ticket, I still would have bought, prolly spending a $1000.00 and STILL would flip the car and make money, had I won it)...at $500 a ticket, I would prolly buy only two cuz a thousand dollars would be the limit for me.

I don't want a '32 Ford nor do I need a '32 Ford and I sure as hell wouldn't want to pay the taxes on a '32 valued at $75,000, but I'd bet I could flip it, pay the taxes and still make money with my "little investment."

In Colorado, the sales tax on autos is 7.72 % = $5,790 + $1000 ticket investment plus delivery fee of $1000. Total investment $7,790...leaves plenty of room for profit.

  5. I'm in. That's the only way I'd ever afford a 32.

Fellow Oregonian here so don't worry about me being able to pay the sales tax. I'll give it a good home. You can take it for a spin anytime.

Thanks for thinking of the little guy.

    OK, now I'm out.

    I'd be in at $5 or $50 but couldn't afford $500 ...
unless it was the winning ticket.

hahaha.. 20 years ago at Pomona Swap Meet we used to sell lug nuts for $1 with and ice cold Coors for free. No advertising.. just an open cooler and a box of lugs.... just ask.

Sure was nice not to many years ago we could do what we wanted with our stuff without all this legal bullshit! Race for pink slips, raffle off a car at a hotrod get together. Now everytime its, check the laws, check the DM.V. !

  9. Don, the car club down here just did this with a truck they bought, If you were really going to do it I'd go through your club ,,,,,,and tell me where to bring the money.:D

$5.00 a ticket probably wouldn't be a problem- I think you would be flooded with offers. Not sure if this is legal, but I sure as heck hope so! No way I could afford $500 per ticket.

Thanks to all of you that participated in my "HYPOTHETICAL QUESTION"---Its just an idea that I wanted to run by intrested HAMBERS & get your input---To which you responded in a good natured manner.
At 78, its time to let go & let someone buy my '32 roadster (avatar), & enjoy it as much as I have since 1968. Intrested buyers can PM me, thanks again,--------Don

Hahahahahaha...after all that- a glorified classified ad...now that takes balls...!!!

But Deuce Daddy missed the requirement that a classified ad must have a price...!!!

  17. The better question is why do people that think '32 Fords are the holy grail seem to think that everyone else on the H.A.M.B. thinks the same way?
