Thats the kats meow man. Chop up that little truck cab un put it over the rails man. Comp coupe! Either way it's bad ***!
Thanks all for the kinds words. Yep Roger, she's not a true reproduction. There was another thread where I was talking about putting a spin on filter in one of the old housings and some newbie called me out about faking it. I'm not one to shy away from such things. ;-) I wanted the functionality and the look. For the sake of time I went with the dual filters but I still have that old housing/ modern filter project in the back of my mind.
If you could modify an old oil filter housing and adapt a System 1 oil filter unit to work that would be cool. The System 1 units are easy to maintenence, filter inspections are easy, looks good with the black ribbed housing and you don't have to keep buying oil filters. The System 1 oil filter unit cost $150.00, but well worth it. Summit have them.
there's a tech somewhere 'round here that puts a System 1 into a Stilko housing. That's how I'm going to go on my HA/GR. If that's "faking it" so be it, I ain't running toilet paper!!!
Me likey, LOTS!! If faking a superior filter system is uncool, then call me uncool. When slingshots were the top of the line tech, 392 Hemis were everywhere. Makes sense now to take care of them, the prices arent going down. Please keep posting pics, they help in keeping the fire going for the rest of us.
Thanks for the kind words guys! Whoever said ego isn't part of this madness was out of their mind as well. Yep! She probably won't be painted but should be running on alchy and ready to go! Did I hear that they aren't going to let all the locals run this year, just folks registered in the show? I hope that's true.
Sorry Wrenchbender, missed your question. I built a sprung single axle trailer for her that I'll be pulling with the 59 Plymouth wagon. I've made a coupld of mods to the trailer since these shots including more reinforcement at the back and some drops for the pan to clear better.
I just sold older fed to organ grinder. Like yours it was the real deal. Is that the motor that my parts are going on----------- cool. Yea you did it right !!!!!!!!!!! Mitch
The parts I bought from you Mitch replace the ones I put in this engine. Gotta be ready for the next one!
Kerry, I tryed your link to your build and it did not work. I did find some pictures on the site! I was looking to see if you had any ****pit or rear mounting pics? I must compliment you on your build, Brian at King does great work and he did a nice job on his Dragmaster Mark IV build but your build is a great blend of updating the cage to blend in with original design! Very nice work!!!!!!!!!!! Have a Great 4th. And again your build was pretty rockin
Thanks much for the kind words. Here are the last couple of posts on her. The just painted pics give you a good look at the ch***is and the saddle mount for the rear. http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=576690&highlight=dragster+project http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=581464 I've got the short block back together and thought I was ready to put it all together but my pushrod solution isn't right. I hadn't realized my lifters were for 5/16 while I have 3/8 adjustable pushrods. I used some 1/4 adjustable to measure length and turn it over to check valve clearance with some playdough. I need to give the folks at Smith Brothers a call. Heavy sigh. I really was looking forward to doing that this weekend.
Thank you again to all those who requested info, on our Nostalgia Slingshot Dragster club & 1/8 mile track. I want to remind you their are many members who build and sell some great Nostalgia Slingshots on this site
