Hell Yea, I'd be up for something like that. I grew up in Sheboygan WI, and spent a few weekends as a kid down there.
Minneapolis is close enough, and i might even have my first car done by then.

Two cents from a stranger, FWIW...This is a very special anniversary - would sure be refreshing to see one of these deals keeping it respectfully pure, with the early cut-off date, and recreating the original parade would be killer with that roadster leading the way! I've been on the so-called "nostalgia" drag circuit for several years now, and have grown weary of running against Camaros, etc - the musclecar people love it, 'cause it's nostalgic to them, but jeez...If you decide to run a street car class (hopefully strickly trad cars), the low qualifier format used at the HAMB drags is a great idea, in my personal opinion...Good luck on the event...

  10. I'LL push for the Chicago Gearheads car club to show up. Probably 50 -60 cars. several guys do all the swapmeets, too. I'll bring my 57 ford custom with a 406 SBC to race.

  11. this thread is really interesting now that July 10, 2005 is the date, for the 50th. That is on another post but, bttt.

  12. If they can bring some of the oldies like Shake, Rattle & Run out of the garages and promote their being there it would be a big draw.

I think you meant to say "July" instead of "June"...

    June 10th is a Friday.

July 10th is a Sunday and is listed on Great Lakes as Nostalgia Day...

You might want to double check your dates to make sure...

Jeffiee ... weve got the same campsite in Iola, you know the one you set on fire last year at 4:00 in the AM. Well hook-up. PM. me when it gets closer.
Oh Yea, wear that little outfit we got you for your birthday.
    Flame-On Dude!!!

  20. Brad,
Thanks for posting the update! Yeah, it's official, and it's on. As far as the racing goes, I'm going to try setting something up in staging, for the hot rods so they aren't racing cars from the 70's, etc. I don't plan on turning anyone away for this event, as it is an important day... 50 years is a HUGE milestone. Nick and I are running the car show and the bands, and we welcome any input y'all have. We're featuring hot rods and customs, obviously, but there are gonna be muscle cars there as well. Coexistence is important for all-remember that first and foremost, this is supposed to be FUN! And some guys that raced in the 50's don't have their old hotrods anymore...
And I know it's the same weekend as Iola. That's the weekend that I was given to work with. If it goes well, it'll happen next year, and we can lobby for a better date. There's going to be a HAMB area, and we need some volunteers to help with the show, etc. If y'all have nay other ?? send me or Nick a p.m., or stop by the track Wednesdays and give me a holler(I'll be in the tower). I'll have racer's fees and swapper fees(if anyone wants to bring stuff to sell) posted this week, and I'll post it on the calendar.
I won't have the digger done :( but I might have a '48 New Yorker to run...
