Did a search but could not find an answer. Is there any differences in the 4 barrel intakes for the 50's Y blocks, to the 60's Y blocks? I have a 64 F100 with a 292 and a 2 barrel. Found a 4 barrel intake on Craigslist, but its listed as a 50's intake. Do not want to drive 1 hour there to find out it will not work. Thanks.
Yes there is a difference. You don't want one from 1956 or older. In 57 they changed the bolt pattern so that you could use the late Holley design. You want a 57 and up or you can't find a decent carb to use on it.
If you've got a '55-'56 intake, you can replace the teapot with a Rochester, Carter, or Stromberg 4 bbl from early to mid '50s Buick, Cadillac, or Oldsmobile.
Thanks man i really appreciate it...I definately plan to eventually, Its kind of hard since its my daily driver and also id want to wait till i have my own place with a garage
