I only took my 55 out 2 times this year,i cant spend $75. in gas to get to a cruse night and back,so it sits and I drive my 30 mpg efi cobra replica instead..its a shame.
I keep getting told to take out the blown 468 for a new ls vette motor so I can drive it ! great idea..not.
Is anyone else parking their thirsty big motor cars? if not what do you do besides work a extra 20 hours?

Oh darn, you have to drive a Cobra... :D Jk. I know what you mean though, gas ****s right now. It's sad that I was relieved to see gas hit $3.49 recently...

Not sure what fuel your running in the 55, but one thing you might consider is converting to E-85. Son has an 03 Cobra that's well north of 600 hp and it loves the stuff. around 17 mpg on the highway. I'm going to convert my Pro-Charged coupe to the stuff this fall.

20 cents more every 15 miles(I get approx 15 MPG) isn't going to break me...for a 300 mile trip thats only an additional $4.00

E85 is a bunch of hub bub, sure its like 107 octane but you use more per mile than gas. I say go with a smaller v8. Throw a turbo on it and you have HP available.

I didn't get my "40" for the gas mileage I got it to cruise, if I was worried about the price of gas I would have got a VW.....:):):)

I'm making $100 a week, and daily driving my straight-8 Pontiac. So I'm not really driving much anywhere.

Around here, the price savings on E-85 are not as big as the fuel mileage drop from the lower BTUs.

Gas price wont stop me from enjoying what I love,,I get about 15 miles per gallon,,,I have a lot of time and money wrapped up in my old cars and I would rather drive them than look at them. HRP

Yep, I have parked and non-op'd my car that has the ole 455 in it. 6 MPG on supreme was killing me. And I was also told I should swap it out for an LSx motor and trans..... More power sure, better mpg sure, but costly and just doesn't sound the same....

300 miles a month at 8mpg with a gas price that's a dollar more than normal makes it an extra $37.50 a month
    get a paper route?

Don't be a *****. I drive mine every single day and mine makes more power than yours. You are driving a 50 thousand dollar hot rod and *****ing about gas prices.

And, if your buddys are telling you to dump your blown big block for a late model LS motor, then you need new friends.

The heat and gas prices have kept me parked more than I like. I have to run premium so it hurts to fill up this year. I have noticed that the attendance is down at alot of events.

Back in the mid 1980s when Vans were big, I worked with a guy from New Hampshire named Francior LeVesque ( Frenchie ) . Frenchie bought a new Chevy van with a 350 4BBL. After he had it for a while I asked Frenchie what he got for gas milage. He looked at me with a blank stare and questioned , "gas milage ?" . I said yes, you know, miles per gallon. Frenchie said , " I don't know , I just put the gas in it and go like hell".

So that's what I do.....put the gas in it and go like hell !!

But if you have multiple cars to choose from, it does make you less willing to drive the obscenely thirsty ones..... I sure get what he is saying....

I'm driving my stuff MORE...roads are emptier due to fuel prices. Flying less though - also due to fuel prices.
