Hey folks, Anyone near me in Van Nuys have a open car hauler trailer they care to rent or lend me? I need to haul a 2700lb car, and if I put it on a Uhaul trailer (which weighs 2000lbs itself) there goes my tow rating. I only have a Chevy Colorado to haul it with. Anyway, I'm building a race car and need to haul it around. At the moment it is in my driveway, but in the next few weeks I need to get it from Van Nuys to Glendale for the next stage of the adventure. Woody
Sure they could, but its not registered, or I would just drive it. I've been told in order to tow it with any wheel on the ground it needs current plates. Oh, and I just remembered my AAA is expired. Renewing the AAA would cost the same as just paying for a tow. I really just figured I would be able to help someone with a trailer make a few extra bucks. Someone on craigslist is advertising they will rent theirs, but its about 50 miles from here.
so, place a Wanted AD here, and other sites in your area. don't need a special thread. also, try the H.A.M.B. Relay Group
Just renew your AAA. Then request a flat bed. Slap a plate on it from your daily. Never know when the wife is going to break down away from home. I got AAA Plus and never use it. But the wife has used it a bunch when away with the kids at games from home. Flats,Locked keys in car, Ran the battery low when leaving the dome light on,etc. Its cheap insurance for me. Renew every year wether I use it or not. All race cars need there own trailer. I would start looking for a trailer instead of looking here to be honest.
I am also doing that, though I can't afford both at once. I did find that Big Tex trailers out of Anaheim will rent their trailers, as well as sell you a new one.
If the car is drivable, you can either get an emergency operating permit or a one day trip permit from DMV.
