what do junk yards pay for cars now vs 70 s - 80 s

    Back in my youth (70s - 80s) the local junk yards Globe Auto and Victory Auto were paying 35 - 50 bucks for a car running or not

    So even before we could drive for real, my buds and I could always spot a neighbor pulling the plates of a beater for the last ride to the yard.
    all we had to do was offer 5 bucks more than the junk yard and we were on the road.
    would mess around with it for a few days on and off road till it got old and then cash it in at the yard

    Now its more like 300 to 500 running or not.
     
  5. Our local place gave me $360 in May of this year for a complete non-running '81 Ford LTD.
