  1. Absolutely agreed!

I guess people don't spend too much time to understand what it's all about here.

dam 1320 tell him how you realy feel hahahaha i would have just patched the roof but o well

  3. Its not HAMB friendly but it is different. NO 22's or 18's but drop it down to stock hieght. Better wheels and tires. The full length Carson style top would be good too. And lose the side pipes!

What are the taillights? '60 Plymouth? Whatever they are, they work pretty well in the styling of the rear body.

Black pipe is good stuff for projects: strong, cheap, easy to weld.

i wish i had the skills of james D .. instead of tearing the kid apart i would simply show him how the car "could " look if he was to choose another look for the car.. i think its a weekends worth of work to make it cool... sorry now go with beating him up and feeling better about yourselfs!!! oh and please spare me the bullshit about it being a mushy faggy hamb, now that germs not around!! idgaf!

  9. Damn, this renders me speechless...a topless wagon!

Do have to give you kudos for keeping another car on the road, but that hideous scoop-thing and the exhaust pipes have to go. Yes, they do.

Paint it something other than r--r-- flat black would help, too. Keep working on it! Find a direction you want to take this project...it looks like you are going three ways from Sunday with your Buick. Your fill-in on the doors and tailgate looks fairly decent. Smooth out the seams and the rest of the body to make it as right as possible.

Remember, you posted it up here, so you shouldn't be terribly surprised at some of the less-supportive comments. I'm figuring it is your first attempt at building something from the ground up, and it IS a pretty decent first shot. Hey, look at the bright side...you've done more work on your car than a LOT of the guys on this forum have on theirs!

I dunno, lose the scoop, the exhaust ports, and the flat black, give it some heavy flaked green, white interior with angel hair and more chrome, leave it jacked with a set of wide ass slots.... not really HAMB material, but it could be cool:)

Words of wisdom from the folks that won't sail past the horizon because they're afraid they'll fall off the edge of the world!
Wake up and smell the gasoline! That Buick isn't "traditional"... yet. We look back to the late '50s and early '60s as the "Meca" of what traditional hotrodding is all about. Well with some of the attitudes expressed here we'd never have an Ed "Bid Daddy" Roth, Daryl Starbird or any of the other true customizers and avante garde stylists that came from that era. Hey, what are they? Chopped liver? Hell no, they ARE tradition. Tradition starts with an idea and an open mind and the energy to bring that vision to life.

Seriously dude, you're gonna try and talk shit after putting these wheels on your Rambler...

You are clueless about this place. It's not what's going to be traditional in the future, it's about the past, specifically mid 60's and previous....

I'd rather fall off the edge of the world than drive that. (Or your creations for that matter).
And to put Roth, Starbird and others into your rant is total ignorance.
You sir, and the OP are no Ed Roths.

Terrible drip rails are no excuse for demolishing a perfectly good car. My gal's 62 tbird's drip rails were non existent but we fixed them. Think twice before making that cut I guess...

He must have confused traditional with turditional... and that goes for anyone trying to justify that mess.

Dang, I got all excited when I saw 61 buick special. Im not gonna bash anyone but I just don't get it.

    What grill is that?

  28. now thats a scary thought, imagine the next generation of hot rodders thinking bloody ratrods are traditional

  29. I have a pretty solid idea about why I'm here. I have numerous, different style builds so understand that certain styles are not readily accepted on this site. Don't get bent out of shape for not understanding how or why you are here. Maybe you'll see the light but if you don't that's fine but understand that you will never redefine real tradition, our tradition.

One of my builds, 1961 Buick Skylark, 1961 401 Nailhead, switch pitch 400, fullsize 1961 Buick limited slip rearend, transverse spring with straight axle, 3 1/2" Ansens,

Let's work on understanding why we are all here.

I really can't believe this thing is still open. This thread might actually be generating some good discussion.

I think the car would be a lot better off if it wasn't lifted like a 4x4 truck. The thing has potential, but then again, what old car doesn't?

I just looked at it again, and maybe it would be better to start over. On a positive note, the taillights flow better than the rest of it. I'd be interested in seeing a photochop of this thing. It could quite possibly be the best "before and after" I will ever see.

All that said, it looks like the guy did put a fair amount of work into smoothing out the body and everything, I respect that. But the car does not flow at all.
