Anyone ever try putting modern gauges into an OEM gauge panel in a 1930 Model A Coupe? Is there enough room between the panel & gas tank to fit the gauges. Any other obstructions or problems ?

Not enough room I don't think to put any between it and the tank.... Now if the tank is gone you can make the stock dash look cool with aftermarket gauges!!!

I'm actually working on that right now. In order for the panel to fit correctly you have to remove most of the material behind the panel. It's not a problem if you are not using the stock tank for fuel and it looks great.

I am working on a way to reuse the existing fuel gage. I think it is easier to modify the original cluster of the 30-31 than the 28-29, i am working on the 28-29. If the original gas gage can be utilized then the speedo is workin all you'd need is a small water temp and oil in the same cluster, move the ign switch elsewhere.

First, I haven't used the stock gas tank on my model A's since the 1960's, so that leaves room for wiring and misc. behind the dash. On my 1930 coupe I removed instrument cluster, smoother area in center of dash, and redrilled for gauges (no original panel). On my '29' I used two instrument panels and cut them each 1/2" off center and rewelded them together for a panel 1" wider than stock. I then smoothed the front of panel and redrilled for gauges. Attached is a picture of '29' sedan dash.
