Can we see some drilled brake backing plate photos? Just thought seeing different patterns would help me deside how mine will look. Are air scoops worthwhile? I plan on using finned Buick drums with 39-48 backing plates. :)

I have a gravel driveway and picked up a small rock through the brake adjustment hole of my 1946 Pontiac when the rubber cover fell out. Ruined the shoes and gouged the drum. Went with the Hollywood backing covers instead of drilling.

Are the holes to allow dirt, gravel, and rain in? Or just for looks? :)

The purpose of the holes is to let angry red wasps nest inside. Ask me how I know

Aside from the "cool factor" what is the benefit of drilling backing plates?

If there was no such thing as a "COOL FACTOR" we would all be driving white four door sedans.

I did 1/2" ones the pair i did but you can go 5/8" without the hole getting into the rolled edge.
