I've been thinking about this too. There are a few threads around somewhere.

    Here's what I'm considering.

    SUBTLE scallops.

    Two tone body - over/under.

Rake: Nose up, Ass down. (Not this dramatic. He must have bags. I won't.)

Chrome steelies with skinny whites or accent-colour-from-the-interior-painted steelies with spiders (and still with the skinny whites).

    Continued...

    Metalflake.

    "bellflower exhaust tips"

    Tiki.

And there you have it. These are the elements that I'm thinking of for my stock '64.

Man, I like your car. Took me a few looks at the picture I posted to realize that it is over/under two tone flake. My buddy has a 60 fourdoor. It runs and drives but the front bench see/saws on the bellhousing...

Thank you, I'm getting ready to start working on the interior and gonna pull the 235 out and go through it to get a few more HP out of it.

  10. This is a genuine '60s custom survivor. It belonged to a guy from a surf shop in Diego bought it in late '64. The Radirs went on in early '65, I don't know who did the bullets n knobs in the grill. Ryan and Warpigg tried to shove the drive shaft into the floor boards, and I guess that the pigg stripped the trim off it probably in the mid to late '90s.

I haven't done much with it. It should go to the upholstry shop in June (I cut 3 layers of seat covers off it). And I should have it drivable (rough) by mid summer.
And before you ask no its not a LETTER CAR and I don't care it's also not going to be a restored MOPAR. Its going to be a restified (and tweaked) '60s survivor.

most 60's customs didnt have the front up attitude that was the 50's taildragger era!! 60;s were lo all round!!

  12. Depends on where you lived. In the NW they called it a "Power Rake" it was more of a "Street Brawler" thing mild custom with a hot mill.

The Chrysler is draggin ass because the springs are saggin' it'll probably get leveled out before its done. Its a So Cal car and I like 'em either level or slightly down in the snout.

One thing to remember about anything period correct is that rods and customs were territorial; different depending on where they were located. Basically the same but with minor differences.

Very true, and VERY important to remember!
There were also different "name builder" styles even in the same region.

i did the bullets and grille knobs too.
the 300 seems to be draggin' in the pic because it is on uneven ground... it had a pretty good "rubber rake".

I've got some nice shots of your wagon on my screensaver. Looks like a sunset shot with some kind of filter on the lens(?) Anyway, I've been admiring your car. I've got a 64 Belair Sedan. My buddy has a factory black and red 64 wagon that has been sitting with its ass in the mud for too long, effectively ruining all the good wagon bits. Shitty for him. Are wagon parts as hard to find as he says?

yes and no- certain parts like tailgate panels and roof racks get the big bucks, but all the other stuff is pretty much the same. I have a 64 Bel air that I put a 63 front end on it.

here's my 60 olds. chopped about 10 years ago by kevin and anthony from the shifters. The front wheel openings have been reshaped, nosed, shaved, decked, sitting on hydraulics, and rides great, home made bellflowers with ripple tips, t-bird backseat, buick grille. i just painted it a bronze green and it has steel wheels now, no more cragars.
