Just a quick question for you guys in the know. What are the differences betwen the 35 and 36 Ford 5 window coupes. I can see the obvious in the front sheetmetal and grille. Some guys love the 35 front fenders and grille look, I don't. So here is the question. Is it possible to fit 36 fenders, grille and hood on a 35 coupe ? If so are we looking at straight bolt on or welding and etc ? Thanks.
Many of '35's have been changed over to '36's by the way of fenders and grille. All the other differences will be minor. '36 have rounded headlight lenses and first year wide five wheels. Then theres a **** ton of differences that most people won't know like how there's an "X" stamped on the cowl in late '35 and '36's. Yadayadayada..... But yeah if you have the fenders then it should swap right over.
Wow man, it's hard to explain. The '35 has a real dip in it and the '36 is a lot fatter. You can see it when it's side on the best.I have never tryed to bolt on onto the other though Cheers,.H.R.D.
36 & 35 coupe, roadster, cabriolet fenders have the same bolt pattern & are interchangeable but sedan, phaeton, convertible sedan fenders will not directly bolt or fit on the a coupe. The coupe type fenders are 1 1/2 inches wider then sedan type. coupe fenders are 1 1/4 inches longer then the sedan type & the bolt patterns are different. The 35 rears have a sway back in the back half of the fender & the rear lip is almost straight across the bottom edge. The 36 has a peaked arch running from the top center going to the rear & at the bottom of the back edge its goes slightly beyond the rear body line then tapers in to the body. Also the wheel well arches a slightly different between the coups & sedans. Just some of the differences.
Never ever saw a ' 36 with "wide five" wheels. Just ' 37 thtough ' 39. I could be wrong. Never saw a ' 37 roadster either, although over 1200 were made. Ha, Ha!
