What does this Mallory Distributor fit?

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by junkmanjr, Jul 2, 2011.

  1. Picked this up at a swap meet today hoping it was for an early Oldsmobile but pretty sure its not. I've googled compared to ones for sale here on the board and cant figure it out. About the only ones I can identify with no problems are chevys . It also doesnt help that it doesnt have a tag either. The really only marking I can find is Z C 50 on the shaft. Its got 15 teeth on the drive gear. And it is for an 8 cyl motor. Any clues?

Could be Y Block. They use a drive shaft from the bottom of the dizzy to the oil pump.

Not sure what it is, but I am 99.9% sure it is NOT a Ford or Lincoln Y block distributor...

I'm pretty well positive that it isn't Buick but the drive looks pretty similar to the 350/455 Olds distributors I have.

It doesn't match this core for a 52/53 Olds distributor though. Ebay number 120675695393

Are there any numbers on it? It looks like an Olds distributor to me.... just comparing it to photos of distributors on the MSD web site at the way the bottom of them look.

somewhere I have an early Olds stock dist. If I can find it, I'll take a pic and some OD measurements, etc.

  13. Yep I see the light it is Oldsmobile just the wrong year for me. I only give $20 for it so no big deal. Oh well to the stockpile.

  14. How about a AMC car..?

    Just my 3 1/2 cents

It's an Olds - but not an early one as suggested, rather the basic 260,307, 330, 350, 400, 403, 425, 455 - from 1964-90 or so. At least that's what i can tell from the photo

Yep its a later model Olds like Hotroddon said above........
And with a little work could fit whatever you wish, as long as the insides are nice.
What do you want it to fit???
