These caps were designed by Bob Fergerson the builder of this mid '30's Dodge based roaster in 1948, and had them spun up in San Diego. When the car was on the Coronado, Ca. paper it had them on it in 1949. Dean Moon must have seen and copied them later. Outside of a fresh top and tires this car is exactly the same as when Bob built the car in the late forties. I listed this picture and comments for my friend, Dennis Blietz who currently owns the car and hasn't figured out how to post pictures here yet. the car has a rear mounted spare and it too has a matching spun disc.

You can cut them out of the bottom of tall beer cans …. Stick them to something and spin & sand them. ;)

Um, the best way to mount screw-on discs is with, well, screws. ImageUploadedByTJJ1368932986.508030.jpg

55 years ago,, I got all the 50 Ford dash knobs I could find, and "popped" out the little chrome insert, flipped them around and glued them on my model car wheels. The "perfect'' moon disc..

On big cars, I like 10-32 ****on head allen wrench screws, held on with blue LOCK***E. ,,,Still like the "MOON LOOK" after all these years...

I drilled three holes equidistant around the rim and tapped them with a 10/32 tap and then screwed the allen head bolts in.

I snagged 3 Dzus style 16"Moon Discs at the Pomona Swap for danged cheap. Had no wheels to put them on but thought it was a good deal. A friend found out about them and gave me 3 16x4 1/2" 5 on 5 1/2 pattern wheels that had been outside for decades. So that set the plan. I got the 4th disc and Dzus jig kit from Moon and welded up the tabs. I recently snagged the last needed wheel, and welded the tabs on that, then off to Powder Coating. Here is how they look. My Model A will go fenderless and I also have a set of 35/36 16" wires on it, but these will be for my ever shifting mood. As we all know how different wheels can completely change how a car look so... KIMG0399.jpg
