Another question.. the cab on my 46 ford truck looks the same as the one on my 40.. I have an opportunity to buy a 37 1-ton that ALSO looks the same. I was told that ford used the same cab for several years. I like the 37 front end WAYYYY more than the 46 and was thinking of buying the 37 just to put the front sheet metal on my 46. . Does anyone know if it will bolt up? Thanks in advance.
Ford cabs. The 35 -36 are similar. There is a difference at the front belt line windshield area. The 37 is all buy it self. Looks like the 35-36 but has a 2 piece V shape windshield, The 38-39 at a like and have the 3 lines in the belt line. 40-41 are the same and the 42-46 are similar. The bolt area for the fenders are difference Also the 40-41 large cab had a higher roof line, I hope this help you. 37 front sheet medal will not work on the 46 cab without a lot of work. The bottom cab on the 37 turns up and the fender sets under the cab. also the hood on the 37 goes almost to the bottom of the cab. 40-41 sheet metal will work out better for you.
I use to have a truck ID book and they talked about it and had the outline of the 1/2 ton cab with a 1 ton cab outline over it and it was 3 inches higher from floor to roof. If I can find the book I will post the picture.
Thanks for your info. I have a 39 cab and I know it has 3 lines at the belt whereas the 37 and the 40-41 and the 46 all seem to have the same belt design...kinda strange that ford went back and forth like that. It may be alot of work but If I can get the price right on the '37 im lookin at, I am gonna try to graft it in somehow.
