Just like the ***le says. I have the need for an axle. I know what we are looking for but not certain. ( if that makes sense! ) I have located an s-10 blazer 4x4. Is it the same as the standard s-10 4x4 truck? I don't have any way to compare a measurment to anything else. Any help is appreciated.
Yes, that will fit very well, width wise. In fact, some of the blazers even had 3.73:1 gears in them.
S-10 4x4, Blazer, Jimmy ect all shared the same width rear axle. You will be fine as long as it is from a 4X4. It sould measure 60" from outside of the drums. Todd
I think the S-10 2wd axle is wider than the 4wd. I used an s-10 4wd axle in my 53, it had a 4:11 gear ratio. I have also found that 9" rear ends from 66 Bronco's will work, the one I found has a 3:50 ratio and will be going in my 50.
Second gen Camaro (70-81) is a near bolt-in, just have to drill for the offset pin hole. The second gen Camaro 10-bolt is stronger than the S-10 rearend, but either will hold up to mild V8 without trouble. Second gen Camaro can have gears from 2.41 to 4.11, open or posi. Z28 and Trans Am tend to be the more performance oriented ratios and more likely to be posi.
I have had trouble locating one of those. We are doing bags on this so a deirect bolt in is not a worry. I do appreciate all the info and all of the help fellas.
another question on this. Does anyone know off hand if it is a 2.75 or 3 inch axle dia? Trying to order some parts for it...
I have an S-10 Blazer 4x4 rear under my '53 Chevy. PERFECT width. It does have the smaller axle diameter, though. Common ratios are 3.08, 3.42, and 3.72. Mine's a 3.42, wish I'd chosen the 3.08.
