So just picked up a basketcase of a 55 Chevy. It needs a floor, trunk, rockers and a few other sheet metal parts. So the question is... who makes the best parts/ who sells the best parts? There is literally thousands of companys... so any help and direction would be great.
Used to get patch panels from CARS out of Michigan. Bought sheet metal from other sources and they had CARS decals on them. The fit was ok for aftermarket parts.
Well you guys have seen it on here im sure. Choprodz had it on here and a few other sites .... It came around to many times to keep p***ing over it. We drove out to pick it up in Illinois this past saturday. Ill post a few more tomorrow.
Yeah....CARS inc. is a good place for sheetmetal, and many other parts. http://www.carsinc.com/ Their parts are very high quality and Made In The USA.
you can get everything you need from Cl***ic Chevy in Kings mountain Ronnie is a good guy knows his parts he carries Cars pieces they do fit great if you cant find his number give me a call at the shop and I will give it to you RED 704-509-6397
As you said, lots of people sell parts, but only a few places make them. I have had good luck with East Coast Chevy in PA and Danchuk in Cally. As mentioned C.A.R.S. has quality sheet metal AND factory interior kits. East Coast builds tri-fives, so they sell good stuff and know how to make it work. Danchuk is a tool and die company that makes many trim parts themselves, also good stuff.
CARS is it man. All made in the USA. A little more expensive than the overseas junk but you get what you pay for! I put all CARS sheet metal in my 56 (full floor halves, all braces, trunk floor, splash shield, under tail lights, inner/outer rockers, complete wheel wells, full quarters and new doors) and couldn't have been happier with the fit and contour. Good luck man, I feel your pain!
Bought several patch panels at different places, ALL of them had the same type sticker on them with part description. I thought they all fit well.
You obviously haven't compared them side by side. I'm pretty sure Shermans sells Schott Steel parts. There is a night and day difference between the 2. As I understand CARS has leased the dies from GM and the lease is set to expire in a couple of years. Ever wonder why CARS is selling complete bodies and no one else is??
Kasey she looks mean!!! I'll be honest with ya bro I would have a hard time letting those radiused wheel wells go away, I think they look pretty damn rad...
REALLY!?!?!?! hotdamn your full of surprises! and a correction from lastnight.... edicate. good thing I draw pictures for a living and not an english major. Im really torn with the wheel wells. Curt has a nice set of uncuts...
Has anyone dealt with cl***ic muscle in Winston Salem NC? Not having to pay shipping would be a good thing!!
There is Cl***ic Chevy International out of Florida. They had and might still have a discount for a membership to their organization?
NOthing ***ier than uncut wheel wells. It gives a hint of aggression without being overly blatent. Understatement is ***y!
I bought a ton of parts from them when I restored my 67 SS396. They have a good catalogue for reference. One of their phone reps is a big time trifive expert.
Cool car ,I bought a Nova from the same guy a couple years ago. Thought about this one but he didnt have a ***le for it. So I p***ed as Illinois is being way tuff on pre 48 cars and cars with no paper. Looks great and a cool project..
Hey Congrats on the new project kasey . You were pretty much in my backyard when you loaded it " about 35 miles away". I used an overseas one piece floor pan for my sedan that had all the braces and inner rockers already welded..... Litterally fit like a glove.
