To be able to see so much history on one roadster is amazing. Thanks to all who posted this information.
Am I reading this right?? All this history on the same car? Holy cats that's just amazing! So I gotta ask, was the Pizza Hut written on the back sponsored by an early Hut? That car was/is perfect in ALL it's setups. WOW
The roadster is way cool, esecially with all it's past history and in the same family for more than 50 years! Tim is way cool too and having been in his shop admiring the workmanship on his current truck build, I can tell you this man has skills that show to a high degree in his workmanship. I look forward to seeing his future work on the roadster once the truck is roadworthy. I'm proud to be able to say that I know him and that we're both proud members of the Sock ****ers Car Club. Dave
Thanks for the good words guys, I really do appreciate it, it means a lot! To answer a couple o' questions, Woog....it had the 3 two's on it with the flathead under the hood. Marshall never has said what they were runnin' as far as carb and intake on the small block under the hood, I'll have to ask him. I'm pretty sure it wasn't injected or anything. 1950ChevySuburban....Yeah, it was sponsored by Pizza Hut. There were only two in Memphis at the time, I believe. They had a picture of the car hanging up in the restaurant and I can remember me and my brother always runnin' up to 'check out Dad's car on the wall' when we got to go there (like we'd never seen it before....LOL....kids 'n hot rods!) We didn't get free pizza though, I don't know what the deal was .
wow. so cool to see the changes the car went through. I love the various shots with the kids and family around the car.
Love the car now and love the history of the car. Great picture of the car at Lakeland International Raceway (dragstrip in the movie Two lane blacktop) Congrats Tim.
I still have contact with Marshall. He's up there in age and still kicking ***.Rides old BMW motorcycles. He ran this as a beautiful yellow Street roadster in the 60's.Had a Hydro-stick and a 1960 (?) Chevy delivery truck in same color. He had a coax cable to start it. All of his work was super sanitary.
So cool to see a car go through so many stages as time went on. And so awesome to still see it on the road making more history!
Can't believe I missed this post a few months ago! AND I can't believe I had NO CLUE of the history on this car, even though I've seen it several times at the Paradise Drag Strip nostalgia meets. Such a great story, and such awesome photos to do***ent it! This is Rodder's Journal material, IMO.
