Thanks for starting the thread,,,,,,I'm old and senile and I forgot. I don't usually fool with diecast cars much, but the McMullen roadster is my holy grail and I could never do the flames and pinstripes in scale, so I HAD TO HAVE the Danbury Mint item seen here. If you want one, get it SOON, because when they are gone, that's it - they won't make more.
Great looking roadster, Lyle. Did you tweak it a bit, or is is that how it comes? On the lighter side, here's a go-kart I scratch built a few months ago. The ch***is is made from styrene rod, tires are fuel line hose, wheels and pulley's are machined aluminum. The axles and steering parts are br***. the motor is scratch built from styrene layered with steel washers for the cylinder. The only part not hand made is the seat which came from the AMT compe***ion parts pack. I also built a rack to carry it in the back of a pickup. You may have seen the truck before as I have posted it on a previous Sunday Model session. I figured I would combine the two.
I've always wondered this. Even on the high end diecast, all have **** for headlight lenses. After all the effort , you'd think ............
First thing I noticed is this one didn't have the monster mono-hinge on the opening doors. I tried to see what they did for the hood hinges, but couldn't tell. Spoogie, cool artwork on your link.

I check the Sunday models periodically and I am simply amazed at the quality and amount of detail that goes into these builds. Whenever I try to build a model, it still looks like a 12 year old built it. Hats off to everyone who makes these cool models and dioramas.
Not exactly a built model but an item I picked up at an estate sale today:an Ideal Toy Co model of a 1951 Buick XP-300.Missing two wheels and one tire and the left rear axle is broken(looks to be an easy fix)as is the headlight switch.Body is in great shape;no cracks or missing pieces except the windshield which I made today.Works on two D cell batteries(just lights and horn).I found a guy on line with one wheel and tire(from a different model)for $25.00.Considering I only paid $8 for the entire car I might spring for it.Either that or try to cast the tires and wheels from resin and use them on the back where they won't be too noticeable.A couple pictures taken on a sheet marked off in 1" squares to give an idea of the size.
Won a couple lots of built models from ebay. These should keep me busy for a while. The 2 '40 Fords are real glue bombs. Haven't taken any of the others apart yet. The 2nd lot (T-Birds) is a bit nicer. When I saw the auction pics of the '57 it looked like it had a real **** paint job, but it's actually quite nice in real life.
This is my green funny altered I have been working on. Hey to everybody from the pub also. Thanks Jim
