guy stopped at my house and had an old niagara stomp shear 32" and 3 niagara bead rollers with the bench mount and an old sheet break, peck stow? made in ct , not sure hard to read , any idea what worth he needs some cash
Niagara stuff was the cadillac of equipment.Pexto is also very good. You will have a very hard time finding replacement parts for the Niagara. The shear knives can be flipped and resharpend. This stuff is the good stuff, last a long time and was made in the USA.Look at the new equipment prices these days and where they are made, along with the quality.Id say sawzall is correct and the bead rollers are around $100-200 depending if they have extra dies. You cant go wrong with these brands as long as they are in good working order.Check the shear for chips.A back gauge is Very hard to find.Fedco
back gauge? do you mean the piece attached to the back of the shear to be able to cut angles ? if so it has that and also 2 little fold up tables on each side , not quite sure what they are for , found a couple picts of others but none have the tables , just the eyes for mounting them
i just want to make him a fare offer , but not screw myself either , not like they are going to get used every day, now he tells me he has another tool , looks like 3 rollers together with a crank handle , sounds like for forming curved pieces
It's called a slip roll. Another nice piece to have. Niagara & Pexto are both top quality Sounds like the brake might be a bar fold used in the heating/cooling world but still a useful piece. Depending on condition you are in the 500.00 range without problem.
You need to find out what gage material the machines are rated for. This sounds like machines from a metal shop that made duct work. They are rated for 20-22 gage thickness at best. Car panels and floors are 20 gage and 16 gage. The lower the gage #(16,18,20) the thicker the metal. If they are for 20-22 gage you will end up breaking the casting on the machines if you try to bend the thicker material.
Bead rollers $150& up each. Be sure to ask about extra dies. Slip roll $225. Shear $500-$800 Is the brake a box and pan brake, or a straight brake? Straight $500-900, box & pan half that. If everything is in good shape $1500 wouldn't be a bad starting offer. That stuff could bring considerably more at a well publicized auction. Price drops like a rock if the tools are incomplete.
