I have seen various threads about Brucker's "Movie World" and "Cars of the Stars" museum. Were these two separate musuems or one in the same? Does anyone have any photos taken of any of the cars inside the museum? If so, please post!
it was One museum, Movieworld cars of the stars, i have some photos not great photos but photos check my link http://www.flickr.com/photos/fredsredt/sets/72157621876868720/detail/
I posted this 1977 photo of Prof. Fates car from 1965 movie "The Great Race" once before. It was sitting outside behind the museum building in a "off limits" area and I sort of broke laws and tresp***ed to take the photo. I know they made several of these cars but this one was in terrible shape, almost like it had been thrown away and disgarded. This car and others were visible from the US 91 freeway that was directly South of the building.
Danny, Jimmy Brucker's son who owned both Cars of the Stars in Oxnard and Planes of Fame, still lives in Santa Paula. Danny's a friendly guy and would probably help you out. His number is 805-525-2020.
I went to cars of the stars when I was in 4th grade. It was a school field trip and I remember buying the QuickSilver model kit from the gift shop. Man, the best field trip I ever went on and that was 38 years ago.
I went through the collection in 1974 or 1975, there were some great cars in there. Neicamp Roadster after Jake and restored it. A twoman MILLER that was unrestored, and the Champ car from "To Please a Lady" with Clark Gable. I took color slides back then but they didn't turn out well without a flash. I think there is a book on the collection, just don't know the ***le.
Wow! Thanks for bringing this thread back up. Cool photos Fredsredt@sbcglobal.net. The museum looked different in person because it was not as brightly lit as the flash photography makes it look. One thing there that I really liked seeing in person was the original King Kong that they used to make the first movie! Anyone one else out there have any more photos? -Aaron
Here's another former resident of Cars of the Stars. My Herbie stunt car. at the time though, he looked like this. Anyone remember seeing my car? I've been hunting for ages for photos of the Herbies that were in the museum. I know the Brucker's owned at least a couple of them, but I haven't been able to find any pictures of them on display. I remember quite a few folks on here who used to hang out or work at the museum but no body said anything about the Herbie cars. Any body remember anything or have pics?
Bumping this one back to the top. I'm still searching for photos of my car or any of the other Herbie's that the Brucker's owned. I believed they owned like a half a dozen of them. Does anyone remember seeing the cars or have pictures?
