If you are burnt take a break. Bonneville can wait til next year. You're building a lot of rad stuff all at once. I'm really diggin the tub! Super bitchin'.

10" z in the back. i didnt have to be that much but i wanted plenty of room above the axle and get a good bump stop in there to.

Perfection is something that you just can't rush. I get burnt out from time to time too.. I don't know about the others but I would rather see a hot rod built the right way because the builder took the time to make sure his work is of the highest quality.

  11. I dig the plate trick. Go to DMV and apply for that personalized plate like on a new car if it is available. Then run that plate all the time and keep the new one under the seat. Make sure you have the registration tag on the plate or frame of the new one if you can do it. Might just work for a while.
Car looks absolutely bitchin'. I have thought about turning my 29 rpu into a tub as well. I need more legroom for a bum leg and this would do it. Keep it up.

Oh that is just too cool man! I guess if it survived a kids ride it'll do just fine in a hard driven hot rod! :)

Just read your entire thread. Very nice work with some really clever original touches. That steering wheel has to be the score of the decade.

I am really keen to see how you resolve the lower cowl detail.

Here's mine. Similar idea but I didn't need to add any length to my door post.

Keep plugging and I'll keep watching.

i finished my work on the renault that i had in my shop . the owner will be finishing the assembly work. now i am working on finishing the jimmy smith inspired tub. i have not touched it in 3 months. now is the time to hammer down. i will be at bonneville speed week 2012 in this tub if everything goes right. i have a few little thing to finish up along with making an aluminum hood for it. and it will be time to pull it apart to do all the paint work, wiring, and final assembly. i hope to have it out in spring and be driving it all summer to shake all the bugs out of it. here are some pics or the rear wheels wells i had to fix and tie into the sub floor. right now i want the car to have red primer body and natural aluminum hood much like the chester osgoods t roadster. i may paint it later but for now i just want to get in it and drive it!!!!

[IMG] not the best pic i could find but you get the idea or the look of the contrast of the rawl aluminum hood and the body.

It's looking great, Drew. I love that steering wheel. I'm afraid if you put it together to drive in primer, you'll have so much fun that you will never take it back apart to finish it.

I'm an expert on that one;)

that is what i think will happen. i will get it running drive it to bonneville and i will have so much fun with it i will never pull it apart to paint it. well that and i am not a painter so i would have to have some one paint it for me . i just hate picking paint colors. everything would be different shades of blue because that is the only color i really like.

That's funny,I'm painting my tub blue, and I've changed my mind 3 times now on WHICH blue to go with. Wheel color choices are also messing with my head.
