Any body know where I can buy the hunt mag "look" distributor other than Speedway?
    They are just too expensive
    Thanks Ted K

  2. Joe Hunt would be a good place to start. I am pretty sure they have a web site.

Might want to state what motor its for. Most likely going to have to find a used one for cheaper than $600.

Call Roger Gleason at Joe Hunt Mags (he's the owner) in Rancho Cordova, CA.
(916 area code) The plant is close to Sacramento Vintage Ford.
Roger sometimes has used/reconditioned/converted magnetos and 'clones' for sale reasonable.
He converted my Scintilla Vertex from Olds to Chrysler Hemi, and turned the case and replaced magnets, points, coil and cap. Just like new, with the Joe Hunt plate on it.
    Very reasonable.

It sounds like Mike had different experience than I did but I'd never send anything vintage or expect anything as far as a quality job from Roger. I had the vintage parts sent with my mag stolen, new parts paid for not recieved and after talking with Roger all he was willing to do was send me junk modern tags to replace the original one missing off the mag. The worst being the cobbled sleeved base he sent me instead of the original I paid for. On top of that the cost of the rebuild was more ( yes more ) than buying not only a new tach drive OAC anywhere but also more than new a Super Mag. Then you should know it took six months of calls to get it back, for what he said was a two week turn around.

Your luck may differ and I hope it does but Roger is a crook as far as I'm concerned.
