Hello Again, I live in Toronto Canada and just recently bought a Chevy 67 step van.... Man what a ride this was. 7 months ago i was all over this site reading all the posts and soaking up as much info as i could to make a well informed purchase. Found the truck of my dreams on eBay but lost the bid... this led to a 7 month search and man are these trucks hard to find. During this time i decided to sell my Mazda RX-7 94 on eBay only to find a lot of fake buyers... Then i had a bright idea to contact the eBay member who was selling the 67 Chevy to see if he had the same experience.... 8 days later i was on a flight to Portland Maine to buy and DRIVE home my P10 700 miles to the Canadian border... Now the rest of my story is one to hear over a case of beer but here is a quick breakdown: 1... great seller nice family and very helpful with the sale truck ran fine. 2... 1st tow followed by tune up... 2nd tow + more engine work 3... start my trip home 250 mile into it 3rd tow 2am i90 battery dead... (thank you police) 4... in the town of LEE 4th tow to AM TRUCK where i worked for 3 days as my truck was getting its medicine. 5... the border 6... finish line. One amazing adventure. now i would like to start the truck overhaul with some advice form all of you... 1st off paint??? 1 colour or two tone
Ahh sweet truck. I remember when it was on evilbay. Good luck with it! I drove my '65 P10 up from Houston, TX to Cleveland, OH. Talk about a road trip! It went 60mph tops (said my GPS). I slept in the back on an old army cot at various Wal-Marts (aka: China Direct) parking lots along the way. I got more looks from that old truck than any of my hot rods. Unfortunately I had to sell mine when I lost my job in '09. There's a guy in my neck of the woods with an aluminum 69? p-10 GMC. He needs to sell it to me...(jedi mind trick probably not working)
Greetings from Kansas. Thats a great tale of bringing the iron home! On the color, as a thought, what would be wrong with a dark color on the front and a lighter color for the back, somewhat like a 55 chevy two-tone, perhaps black and grey? Whatever you choose...beauty is in the eyes of the beholder. You will soon find here that opinions are like noses...everyone's got one, and they are all different. Looks like a great project, so keep us posted!
